Chapter 6

"So the plan is to send two people into the auction to draw the guards away." Kelly started.

"From there, we cut the power and two more go in to take the treasure." Boss continues.

"Then those two join up with two others that will cover them and come back to the van." They finish together.

"So. Who's working with who on what job?" I ask. Looking around some of the group seems confused.

"Well, Kelly and I are the getaway drivers, since there will have to be two vans. And En and Takuto are techs so they are staying in the vans." Boss starts.

"So that leaves Hiro, Samantha, Kenshi, Kaylee, Riki, and you. From your combined skill sets, we've set you up. Hiro and Kaylee are distracting the guards. Her hearing can help him hide and be able to lead them away without getting caught." Kelly continues.

"Then, Kenshi and Samantha will steal the painting. With his strength and her disguising ability, she will get them in and he will get them out. And it's easier to go in as a couple." Boss says.

They're pairing me up with Riki. This is gonna be interesting.

"So," by now Kelly is acting like she's treading on thin ice,"That leaves you and Riki to cover them back to the vans."

The tension and bad feelings are palpable by now as I lean back in my chair and stretch my arms to the ceiling. Riki still hasn't looked up.

"Alright, but on one condition." The tension rises even more, if that's even possible. Riki looks up a little. He's sitting across from me so I lean forward and look him in the eye.

"I'll do this if you start acting like yourself. Since you came out and saw me earlier, you've been acting meek and pouty and that's not you." That's not the man I fell in love with.

"I get that your emotions are probably f****ing with your mind, 'cause mine are too, but I'm not gonna let them effect this mission. Your the leader of The Black Foxes, so get your head on straight and start acting like it!" I reach across the thin table and lightly bop him on the head. He's looking at me like I've just blown his mind.

"You're cocky, arrogant, narcissistic and a natural born leader and I know you can fake your feelings. So if you have to fake it....fake it. I'd rather deal with that side of you than this bullshit." Because seeing you this way is breaking my heart all over again. He blinks and lightly shakes his head...and then he smiles. A genuine smile and I think I see some light come back into his eyes.

"You're right. You are absolutely right. It'll be nice working with you....you're an idiot if you think you can pick someone else. You don't have a choice in the matter."

"Ladies and gentlemen," I laugh, "Riki Yanase is back." From there the tension just dissipates and we all joke around and laugh. After a while, I tell them goodnight and goodbye, then head home.
