Chapter 15: Spells Always have Price

Maddox's POV:

After some flashback memories from the past. When I arrived back home it was already 4 o'clock in the morning. So as usual I visited pack training ground first and then visited Hazel. She is just lying there peacefully. It hurts to see her like this. But I know once she woke up everything is gonna be fine.

I spend my whole day in my office after visiting Hazel.

It's been week since I had been working day and night in my office. I didn't get any peaceful sleep these days. That must sounds cheesy but I can't slept without her. I am now feeling tired.

In this past week there were three rogue attacks. I don't know what they want. In recent years due to my packs strong reputation we didn't face any such kind of rogue attacks. But in few days they are more than we ever have. Straight 3 attacks in one week. The pack members really don't know about them. I don't want to scare them with the situation near pack borders.

Right now I'm on my way back to pack house after making sure that that pack guards are doing their job. But I stop in my tracks right in front of pack house. I saw Ethan's father Andrew standing there. I think he is waiting for someone.

"Alpha Maddox, can I have words with you?" He asked me in a very respectful way. I don't know what he want to talk about.

"Yeah sure let's go in my office" he followed me until we make ourselves comfortable in my office. After silence for sometimes he finally spoke.

"Ethan told me about the Luna being pure blood wolf and your confusions about the prophecy" he stated while looking at me carefully. He is the pack ex-head warrior.

"Yeah I am really confused about that prophecy. Do you know anything about it?" I asked him hoping may be he knows the answers I am looking for.

"I am here to tell you about something. So hear me out and in the end you will get the answers you want" he stated calmly.

"Okay I am hearing" I said curiously.

"You know your mom Samantha was just like your mate" he said after taking a deep breathe.

"Wait What...?" First I was sad when he said my mothers name and then I was confused when he said she is like my mate. When I finally realized what he meant I was shocked to know that my mother was a pure blood wolf.

"Are you sure that she was pure blood wolf. If she was how did you know about her?" I asked him.

"Because I was her protector. The warrior assigned to protect her" he said with pain in his eyes. I also see some emotions that I could not understand.

"Oh but how comes she never told me about this or anyone. Because as far as I know not a single pack member knows about it" I asked him.

"It was supposed to be hidden from everyone only me and your father know about her" he was looking at me whole time during our conversation.

"How comes no one noticed when she shifted in her wolf form" I asked him after snaring with my own thoughts.

"Because she never shifted in front of pack members" before he continues I stopped him after thinking about something.

"I am first born of my mother but I'm a boy and I'm not a pure blood wolf" Right now I'm feeling like I'm trapped inside a maze of secrets where I can't find my way out from it.

"I am getting there but you are asking to many questions. So first hear me out and then ask me whatever you wanna ask" he said with a strict tune like a father telling his son to listen him out. But I'm his Alpha he need to respect me. My wolf and I don't like his tone. But I ignored it for now and told him to tell me everything that he know.
