Life in care has never been easy, Kiara Taylor is no exception to this cruel reality. From the moment her father walked out, she swore that she would look after two younger siblings like her parents never had. But through it all, her responsibilitie...

I struggle to keep up with Liam's long strides as he walks up to the DVD stall, holding the two pirates that were sold to him. A part of me knows this is a bad idea and that it won't end well, but the angry look on my boyfriend's face is telling me that he isn't to be messed with.
So, rather than going with my gut, I hold onto Liam's hand tightly as he practically drags me to the dodgy stall.
"Oi" He says angrily, dropping the two DVD's onto the table which is covered in many other copies of pirate DVD's. "These films are rubbish"
"Yeah, I've read the reviews" The man says sarcastically, holding a phone to his ear and making it clear that he's unbothered.
"He means they don't work" I step in, sick of the man acting smart. I mean, a simple refund would do, rather than all this attitude. He glances my way, studying me before deeming me unimportant and turning back to Liam as if he was the one to have spoken.
Sexist bastard.
"Must be your player"
"Look, I know they're filmed in the cinema" Liam begins, placing his hands on the flimsy table in front of us, careful not to lean all his weight on it so as not to knock it over. "You can see the backs of people's heads"
"That's the directors haircut" He jokes, crossing his arms across his chest and giving Liam a look that tells him he won't budge.
"You're a funny bloke" Liam scoffs sarcastically in response.
"And you're a funny kid" The man responds in a patronising tone. He clearly thinks that we can be taken advantage of, just because we're kids.
"All I want is my money back"
"Now you're hilarious" He laughs in response, beginning to walk around the table, stopping a few inches in front of me and rasing his eyebrows threateningly.
"Don't look at her" Liam says protectively, his jaw clenched in anger as he gently pushes me behind him. "You're scamming ain't you?"
Suddenly, a much taller and rather terrifying man approaches the table. Any bit of exposed skin except his face is covered in tattoos, completing his intimidating look. "It's a respectable business" He says, approaching Liam. "So push off"
"Look, all I want is my 20 quid back, and I'll go" Liam says, trying to reason and pushing me even further behind him.
"I said" He begins, pausing to shove Liam back, causing me to stumble backwards aswell. "Push. Off"
