In the five years that I've lived in Elm Tree house, I've come to realise that there is truly never a dull moment. There's always some sort of argument, shouting, crying whinging of moaning. And as much as I love them all to death, they drive me nuts.
"Harry, stop it!" I plug my ears shut, blocking the noise out. It's too early for this.
"Leave it alone Harry!"
"Bloody hell, you can never get any peace and quiet in this damn house" I mutter under my breath. "He's a literal kid"
"Kiara mind your language!" Mike yells.
"Oh my god, they're screaming in there and all you can think to do is have a go at me" I argue back. I suppose I must admit that I contribute to at least half of the noise in this house.
"Alright, alright, I'm sorry Kiara" He apologises as he holds his hands up in mock surrender. He knows it's best to drop it before an even bigger fight kicks off. "Harry! Give Carmen the remote" He screams out, deafening me.
"Who cares?, Tracy Beaker" The woman on the TV says but I barely process, just patiently waiting for Carmen to put our show back on.
"Thanks Mike, I was just gonna change it" Carmen says as she changes the channel and I shuffle back into my seat in excitement.
"No no no no give me that" Mike rushes out as he snatches it from Carmen and changes it back. "Oh my god, that's Tracy!" I frown in confusion, wondering what all the fuss is about.
"Who's Tracy?" I ask, putting my arm around Johnny and poking Mike repeatedly in the arm to annoy him. He's completely unfazed at this point.
"Come here everybody, look at this!" He exclaims, ushering us all to sit around the sofa.
"Who is she?" I ask again, growing agitated at his lack of response.
"It's Tracy Beaker!" Who on earth is that?
"Who?" Johnny asks as he pulls a stupid face at me. He really is my little brother in every sense of the words. I can't help but snort at this as Mike answers.
"She used to live here"
"Is she an actress?" Tee asks which causes me to roll my eyes.
"No she's written a book!" Mike exclaims, pride lightening his face. It's so clear that Mike would do anything for us. It's like we're really his kids and he certainly cares for us like that.
Gina rushes in with frustration and curiosity on her face."What's all the excitement about?" I've been wondering the same thing.
Everyone shouts out at the same time, proving that they're truly is never a moment of peace.
