7. Kiss me

«You have got no idea!» I almost yelled at Kate and Aidy. «It was wonderful!»
«So now I'm the only single around here... great» Kate sighed.
«The date didn't go well?»
«It... went. There was some action, nothing exciting and worth telling.»

The girls seemed to be way happier than the day before, and I preferred to not bring up their weird attitudes, since we were all having a lot of fun.

«He's also coming to Chicago next week, right after Christmas!» I shouted, letting myself go on Kate's legs.
«Wait, to meet your family? Already?» Aidy asked, concerned. «He seems like a great guy and all, but isn't it all a little bit rushed?»
«I just want him to meet my nana and my cousin before it's too late...»
«If that's what you want, we're with you» Kate reassured me.
«I think so... maybe it's the fact that I haven't been in a relationship in a long time, but I really wanna commit to this one.»
«Fine by us» they concluded. «Just as long as he doesn't hurt you.»

That Saturday, after the last episode before Christmas, we all stayed at the offices for the big party, the one where everyone – including me – usually got drunk, danced on the tables, shouted Christmas songs and kissed strangers out of the blue. Jack stopped by after work, and he preferred not to drink too much, still letting me have my fun.

Kate was the same, she got drunk, started shouting songs while pretending to be the next Mariah Carey, and at one point almost fell face first when she didn't see a chair in front of her. But as always, she got up gracefully, or so to speak given the circumstances, and walked over to the table of drinks to pour herself another shot of tequila.

«Helluu» I told Jack, approaching him with a drink in my hand, stumbling.
«Hey. Having fun?»
«Yeah... I'm having a lot of fun. But you know what would be funnier?»
«What?»

I kissed him passionately and started touching his chest in a seductive way.

«How about we go to my office?»
«I don't have a condom.»
«Oh my- wait here.»

I reached Pete and smirked at him.

«Hey» I smiled, prolonging the "y".
«Do you need anything? Like to stop drinking?»
«Do you have a condom?» I tried to whisper.
«Uh... yeah, here.»

He handed me the small packet and smiled at me, kind of innocently.

«Just try to be quiet.»

I grabbed Jack by his jacket and dragged him away from the party, and we reached my office.

«You sure you wanna do this now?»
«Just kiss me.»

He pulled me in for a passionate kiss, and I tried to undress him, but everything around me was spinning and I couldn't do it.

«You're cute when you're wasted» he laughed, unbuttoning his pants.

I chuckled, and he put on the condom.

He kissed me again, this time more aggressively, and took off my clothes, then got on top of me.

The day after I was at the airport, waiting to board on my flight for Chicago. I was really happy to see everyone, but at the same time I was extremely sad.

Turns out, Aidy was only acting weird because her and Conner had had a disagreement, but everything was okay. I still didn't know why Kate had been acting weird, but didn't bother to ask her, because I didn't wanna be noisy. I assumed it was just a moment, and went on with my life.

«Alright Kate, I gotta go» I said on the phone to my friend.
«Fly safe, bye.»

I ended the call and turned to Jack, who was looking at the flights on display.

«They're calling my flight.»
«Okay, be safe. Text me when you get there?»
«Yes. I'll see you in a few days. Thanks again for coming up.»

I kissed him, then boarded the plane, which departed right on time.

Lucy, my dog, was with me, as she had been every Christmas since the day I got her. She loved going home, and I was sure that my parents preferred her over me.

«Let's go home, uh?»

I let her lick my cheek and gave a kiss on the head, as I watched New York City pass under me.
