After five years of bliss with my mate, tragedy struck. The pain of the loss caused my mate to become a person I no longer recognized. Two years of suffering followed before I finally made the decision to leave. I began a new life in a new pack, and...

"Wow!" Becca exclaimed before cheering loudly. I didn't blame her. The new girl was more than a little impressive.
She had talked to both Ella and Becca about helping them out with their duties until she found her own thing. It did not surprise me when Becca agreed immediately. She desperately needed help. That's what a Beta female was for, but not my Beta female. Even if she was willing to help the Luna, I doubt Becca would last long before deciding she didn't want the help anymore. Haven hadn't been trained in how to lead a pack, even though my mother offered when we first met, and I recognized her as my mate.
Ella did not agree to the help as eagerly. She wanted to see if Everleigh was any good before she took her up on the offer, despite Linc's insistence that she was. We'd all been busy all day. So it was after dinner before they had a chance to spar.
Becca, Linc, and I were standing to the side of the yard, watching the two while our two sons ran around playing tag.
"I wonder where she learned to fight like that? Her mate?" I wondered aloud as she easily dodged each of Ella's strikes like it was nothing.
"Her name is Everleigh Terrell," Linc muttered, eyes never leaving the two women.
"As in Jackson?"
He nodded, and my eyebrows shot up. No wonder he was going out of his way to make the woman feel welcome. Jackson Terrell was a well-known name in our world. He was a renowned warrior. As was his father before him, and all of his children were as well, from what I had heard. They were a highly sought-after family.
"Plus, she grew up with three brothers. I'm sure that played a part as well," he continued.
My confusion from the morning only grew with the knowledge of her name.
"I don't get it," I whispered, hoping she couldn't hear from where she was.
"Get what?" Josh asked.
"This morning."
"What about it?" Linc asked, turning to face me.
"She's a pretty girl. From what I've seen, she's kind, caring, and goes out of her way to help others. Now, this too. She's a strong warrior from a famous bloodline. She seems like the perfect Luna from where I'm standing. Why the hell would her mate cheat? What's he want that she doesn't have?"
