With a sigh of relief, I signed my name to the last piece of paper, approving funds for a teen accepted to college. The family was low income, and they'd asked for assistance from the pack. It wasn't unusual, especially for children of Omegas, to need a little extra help when going to college. As long as they did well in high school and signed an agreement to return to the pack when they graduated, we always tried to help when the funds were available. It was an investment. Their degree would no doubt help the pack when they returned."Everything else can wait until tomorrow," Linc said, tossing his own pen down. "I think we need to go do something fun this afternoon."
"Sounds good to me," I mumbled, standing to stretch my back. We'd spent most of the day working through the stack of paperwork that had accumulated while we were busy with other things for a few days.
We headed to Becca's office next door, and I found my shoes overly interesting when Linc walked right to Becca and pressed his lips firmly against hers.
We had all grown up together, and after eight years of them being mated, I was well acquainted with their open affection. It still made me feel fidgety each and every time, though.
My chest felt like a vice was tightening around it when my mind drifted to my own mate. Had we even once shared a kiss and smiled like that at one another when we pulled apart? No. I knew we hadn't. Not even in the beginning. Haven's bitterness overrode everything else right from the start.
"Hey, baby. We want to cut out for the day and find something fun. What do you think?" Linc said with his face shoved in her neck. I could literally see the stress melt away from her features as she pulled herself tighter into his chest.
"Sounds good. We taking the boys?"
They both looked at me, and I shrugged with a nod. That was fine with me.
We went to find the boys and crossed paths with Josh and Ella on the way. They had finished their afternoon training with the members, and were on board with the plan immediately. Everyone needed a little break.
