The continuous ringing of my phone woke me up at four the next morning. I had always been an early riser, but that was early even for me. I cursed the device, wildly slapping my hand in the direction of the nightstand in an attempt to find it without opening my eyes.

My fingers finally found the cool metal just as the ringing stopped making me grunt in annoyance. Opening one eye, I sighed when I saw the handful of missed calls and half a dozen texts from Levi. I'd turned my location off so he couldn't track me, but I'd kept the phone. My family still didn't know what had happened, but I knew it was only a matter of time. He would call them soon if I didn't respond. I was actually surprised he hadn't already.

I scanned his words before digging the palms of my hands into my eye sockets. The first messages started with words of love and apology but quickly devolved into anger and threats by the end. The final one read, "If you don't answer me NOW, you'll regret it! You can't do this, Ev!"

Sighing, I turned the ringer off and tossed it back on the nightstand. There was no hope of sleep finding me again, and I knew it. My chest ached, and my wolf's whines were making my head ache. Yesterday had been a good day. I'd managed to shake off my sadness while surrounded by people and staying busy. With that thought, I tossed the covers off and decided to get ready before finding something to do.

When I reached the first floor half an hour later, my hair still dripping water on my grey shirt, I heard quiet murmurs coming from the kitchen. When I entered, I found two omegas getting breakfast started.

Usually, omegas were the physically weaker wolves. They couldn't work as warriors or patrol the pack. So, they took various other jobs to contribute, ranging from cooking and cleaning to teachers and pack doctors. They were capable of pretty much anything they chose to do. They just weren't physically strong and were rarely skilled in fighting.

"Hi," I said to gain their attention.

"Hey," the pretty redhead said immediately. "Can we help you?"

"No. Can I help you with breakfast, though?"

"Sure," the tall brunette said hesitantly. "Who are you, though?"
