Author's Note:

Hello guys, sorry that this chapter took a while to finish and post. I've been busy as my semester has unfortunately started lol. I also struggled with writer's block for the second half of this chapter which made the process longer than it should have. But, I really enjoyed writing these moments between them so I hope you enjoy this one!

"I have an assignment for us to work on together," you announced through a yawn, entering your apartment with Satoru following close behind. It was an autumn evening, the whole city outside the windows of your living room cast in hues of red and orange as leaves littered the ground and the sun was lowering in the sky.

"Do you hear yourself?" Satoru furrowed his brows as you both slipped off your shoes, trading them for matching indoor slippers. "You're yawning, Sweetheart. I don't think now is the time to discuss adding more work to our plate. That is already full, might I add."

"It's a long-term project," you continued, smiling as your husband muttered 'workaholic', trudging up the stairs to your bedroom. You missed a step, nearly falling against the hardwood, but Satoru's arms curved your waist in time, sparing you the embarrassment.

"You were saying," Satoru hummed against your ear, his tone pointing to the fatigue that plagued your movements.

"I was saying"—you cleared your throat, gathering your bearings and making it up the last few steps—"it's a long-term project that will take a lot of preparation."

"You know," Satoru sighed, running his hands through his hair and shaking his head, " most people like to take it slow when they return from vacation. Take baby steps. Not run a whole marathon, Stardust."

"It's been over a month and a half since we got back, Dimples," you laughed, dropping your bag in the closet and taking off the blouse and trousers you wore for the day.

"Yeah, well, you're still blaming your exhaustion on jet lag," Satoru retorted, slipping off his suit jacket and blindfold, tugging his tie loose. "Two can play at this game."

You closed your eyes, lips firming into a line as you knew he made a good point. "Well, anyway," you said, slipping on one of Satoru's t-shirts that had become yours over time with a pair of comfy lounge shorts. "I was saying this project will need a lot of preparation over the next few months and—"

"May I ask what this project is? Since you are being pretty vague, my love."

He's getting annoyed, you observed, a rueful smile growing on your lips as you looked at his pouting expression while he changed into a pair of sweats and a tee.

"Well?" Satoru raised his brows, his eyes bright and expressive, demanding an explanation from you.

"Let's go downstairs," you said, pulling him out of the bedroom.

"So?" Satoru inquired as you entered your office library, plopping onto a sky blue armchair. The impact caused the chair to swivel as he got comfortable. "You were saying?"

"I was thinking that we could take on a little mentee," you said, shrugging your shoulders as your fingers fiddled with the hem of your shirt. "A little junior assistant, if you will."
