It was now mid-November. You settled into your seat at the head of the table, the room buzzing with voices as your colleagues entered the meeting room, grabbing chairs around the table's round edge.
A cup containing a warm matcha latte slid in from your peripheral, Satoru taking the seat beside.
"Thank you," you exhaled, giving the man a weary smile.
"I'd figured you needed it, Stardust," Satoru whispered, returning your weary smile as he slid his hand into yours underneath the table, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
The past few months had been a whirlwind, you and Satoru juggling so many things on your plates as your jobs transitioned. The entire office had expanded and undergone transitions alongside you too, Choso stepping into your former role with Utahime, who'd transferred from a distant department. Under them, Nobara had taken on more responsibility, the increased spending power giving her enough reason to become in charge of social media engagement and the main liaison to the event planning company you outsourced.
Yuji now led and managed a new team of interns and new junior associates, preventing them from making the mistakes he did when he was in their position. Megumi and Maki had stuck with you and Satoru, their responsibility rising as there was much more to handle. Alongside you in the C-suite were Nanami and Shoko, Nanami now in charge of the accounting and finance department, and Shoko in charge of research and development.
"Alright." You cleared your throat, the room's buzz fading away as you straightened your back, adjusting the white blazer you wore with a white jumpsuit. "Let's get started, everyone. We all have places to be after this." The few lingering voices quickly diminished. "Okay," you smiled, looking at familiar faces around the table and newer ones in chairs lining the room. "We have just under a month until the gala, so it's crunch time."
With the company undergoing major administrative changes, Yaga had pushed the annual gala back to December, Nobara and the planning team taking advantage of the unusual timing to use a 'Winter Wonderland' theme. There was a lot for you to catch up on in the planning process, the designated team having started since the instant last year's ended. And the pressure was on this year, as you needed to ease any worries or questions clients had about operational change.
You took charge of this project as Satoru traveled to the prioritized clients with Yaga, ensuring a safe transition of power. The two of you quickly understood the necessary division of labor as you learned of side departments and operations that hadn't crossed with your work.
"Choso, Utahime, was the second round of invitations sent?"
"Yes, [Y/n]." Choso stood from his chair, a slight brush on his cheeks as he continued. "They went out last week, and Utahime has already begun working with her team on the final reminder."
"Utahime?"
"Yes." Utahime rose from her chair as Choso sat, adjusting her kimono and pushing her deep violet hair over her shoulder. "My team and I are finishing up the design and which information to include this week. As of right now, we are planning to release them two weeks in advance of the gala."
