side character (dream + karlnap)

Dream was devastated. He'd always felt like a side character, even in his own story, and now he was just the rejected love interest.

Sapnap and Karl had started dating, which meant Sapnap had tossed Dream and everything they had to the side. They'd been in love, and then Karl came in love and stole Sapnap's heart in an instant.

Dream sobbed into his pillow, screaming and cursing whatever god there was. He wanted Sapnap so badly, and now he'd never have him.

And he couldn't even hate Karl, the kindest and sweetest person Dream had ever met. Sapnap deserved the best, and Karl was the best by far, but that wouldn't change the fact that Dream was in love with Sapnap.

Dream wiped away his tears and went downstairs, walking past Sapnap and Karl cuddling on the couch, calling out for him; and to the kitchen, where he pulled a can of pop from the fridge and began to drink it.

"Dream? Are you okay?" Sapnap asked, coming into the kitchen.

"'M fine. Don't worry, you can go back to Karl now," Dream mumbled, taking a sip of his drink.

Sapnap took a step closer to Dream. "What's wrong? Did I do something wrong?"

"Yeah, you did. It's not like you'd ever change your mind though."

Sapnap sighed. "Is this about Karl? You know I love you both."
"But you love him more! You want him more! We had something, and you threw it all away!" Dream cried, tears starting to run down his face.

"Dream, I-"

"You have no room to talk. I'm leaving and I won't be back for a while. Maybe ever."

Dream ran out, shoving on a jacket and leaving the house.

He didn't think he'd come back for a while.
