Roxana, Christina and Beatrice all sat down on the floor of the train to catch their breath. Roxana hadn't noticed just how much of the odd ones out her and Beatrice were until this point. She was the only Amity and Beatrice was the only Abnegation, as most of the others were either Dauntless born, Candor or Erudite.

"Get ready." One of the older Dauntless members said and the train slowed down just a fraction.

Roxana and Beatrice got up to see what was happening.

"Cool." Roxana said with a laugh.

"They're jumping." Beatrice told Christina who looked as shocked as Beatrice.

Christina got up and looked out the open door to see Dauntless member after Dauntless member leaping from the train and on to a specific rooftop. Seeing the hesitation all around her, Roxana decided to jump first giving her two new friends a reassuring smile. She landed on her feet and somehow managing to stay on them which surprised and impressed a couple of Dauntless borns.

"Look if an Amity can manage it then so can you Al." Beatrice heard one of the Candor boys say to a Erudite boy.

"What if I just don't jump?" Al asked, looking at the jump.

"You end up factionless." The Candor answered before jumping.

"Together?" Christina asked Beatrice who nodded in response.

Beatrice took hold of Christina's hand and they ran to the door before leaping out just as the last train carriage cleared the rooftop. They landed on the roof and unlike Roxana went tumbling straight to the floor but they were laughing which reassured Roxana who had run over to make sure they were okay. She gave them a hand up before they all walked over to where the group were stood around.

"Alright listen up. I'm Eric, I'm one of the leaders here at Dauntless." An older guy said as she stood on the ledge.

He had piercings, tattoos and looked like someone you wouldn't want to mess with.

"To get into Dauntless, you must jump off the this ledge and into the hole down at the bottom." He explained.

Everyone exchanged glances, alternating between the hole and each other.

"Come on. Someone's gotta be first." Eric said slightly impatiently.

"Me."

Everyone looked to see Beatrice volunteer herself to go first.

"Alright." Eric said, seeming surprised that an Abnegation would want to go first.

Beatrice took off her jacket before stepping onto the ledge.

"Yeah take it off Stiff." The Candor boy that had already been a pain said.

Roxana shot him a look of anger but he just smirked at her. She looked back at Beatrice just in time to see her jump off the edge and down the hole.
As she fell down the hole collecting more speed as she went, she suddenly stopped and felt herself bounce upwards a few times before stopping.

"A net!" She exclaimed silently.

"What, you get pushed?" Someone asked her as they helped her off the net.

"Um no. I jumped." Beatrice replied lost in the Beauty of the person that helped her.

"What's your name? You can change it if you want but make it good." He asked her.

"Tris." She said with confidence.

"Alright. First jumper Tris!" The guy called out and a bunch more Dauntless members came out from the shadows.

Back at the top, Roxana volunteered herself to go next. She walked to the ledge with confidence and stood on facing her audience. With a smile, she lent back and at the last second pushed herself away from the wall with her feet. Once she'd stopped bouncing in the net, she refused any help getting off the net and was asked  the same question as Tris by the same guy.

"Raven." She answered with pure certainty that she was were she belonged.

After a long and slow 10 minutes, all those that had made it off the train were safely off the net and on solid ground.

"Dauntless born go with Lauran. Transfers stay with me!" The guy that helped them off the net called out.

"My names Four, most of the time I work in intelligence but I'll be your instructor for the next 10 weeks." Four explained.

"What Four like the number?" Christina asked with raised eyebrows.

"Exactly like the number." Four replied taking a step towards her.

"What happened, 1 through 3 taken?" She asked trying to make a joke."

"What's your name?" Four asked her taking another step closer to her.

"Christina." She said, her voice suddenly very quick and small.

"The first thing you learn here at Dauntless is if you want to survive, you keep you damn mouth shut. Is that clear?" He said in a quiet, threatening tone.

Christina nodded her head and Four, satisfied with her reaction lead them down a corridor to a large open space that had openings for corridors all around it.

"This is the pit. Its the center of life here at Dauntless." Four explained.

Looking at all the Dauntless members practicing fighting one another, Raven felt a wave of relief almost a sense of rightness like she had chosen the right faction to live her life in. She found herself smiling as she looked around at her surroundings. A moment later and they were on the move again, this time Four led them to a room with enough beds for all of them.

"You'll sleep in here for the next ten weeks." He explained.

"Boys or girls?" The Candor, who by Fours asking, Raven had found out his name was Peter.

"Both." Four said simply.

"That works." Peter replied and some of the others agreed while most of the girls were in disgust it disbelief.

"Course that works for you, prick." Ravan muttered under her breath but Peter didn't seem to hear her.

"You Candors will feel right at home with everything it in the open." Four said finally before leaving.

"Get changed." He said before he left the room.
