Once Four left, awkward silence filled his place as everyone looked around in confusion.

"Well this is weird." Christina said breaking the awkward silence.

"Just a bit." Tris replied.

"Anyone for a shower?" Peter asked, being a prick.

"I don't think anyones gonna want a shower, do you? Prick." Answered Raven, this time making sure he heard the name calling.

"I thought Amitys were supposed to be kind?" He questioned walking towards her.

"If I was kind, I would have stayed in Amity." Raven replied before turning her back and walking to the far corner where Christina and Tris were.

"What was that about?" Christina asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Just giving him a piece of my mind." Raven replied with smile.

Everyone began awkwardly changing from their old faction clothes into the new Dauntless ones.

"Nice legs Stiff." Peter commented and before anyone could stop her, Raven stepped in.

"Will you shut up, you prick. Why you even looking at her, huh?" Raven asked glaring at him.

She didn't stop stating at him until he looked away, leaving Raven with a sense of smugness.

"You know he'll make your life here hell if you keep that up?" Christina mentioned as they tied their lace in their shoes.

"Yeah but I don't care. He was Candor, he doesn't scare me. Replied Raven with confidence.

All the new initiates walked out in a single file line passed a large burning fire which they were instructed to throw their old faction clothes into it. As each initiative passed the fire, they threw their clothes in and soon it was Ravens turn.

"Good riddance." She thought as she followed those infront of her.

Soon they all found themselves in a large hall with rows of tables laid out in lines. Most of the tables had been taken but there was one by the end that Tris, Raven, Christina, Al and Will took. News had traveled fast about which factions the transfers had come from. Of course the 2 most interesting were Tris's and Ravens, as they were from factions that were hardly ever seen in Dauntless. If Abnegation or Amity ever did transfer over they never lasted very long, most dying trying to get from the train to the rooftop. Everyone watched as the new initiates made there way over to the almost empty table. They began eating, Raven constantly looking round taking everything in while the others kept their eyes down not wanting to draw attention to themselves. At some point during the evening, the Dauntless leader Max made an announcement from above them.

"Initiates... stand." He commanded and unsure of the punishments at Dauntless, they all stood. "You have chosen to join the warrior faction, tasked with the defense of this city and all its inhabitants. We belive in ordinary acts of bravery and the courage that drive one person to stand up for another. Respect that. Do you proud." He said slowly and clearly making sure they all heard and understood him before he walked away.

The next morning Four came into the dormitory banging something metal on one of the railing waking everyone but Raven, who was already awake. As everyone around her groaned and moaned at the early morning, Raven sat on her bed casually tying her shoes.

"I want everyone in the pit." Four said once he was sure everyone was awake at least. "2 minutes." He added before he left them to get up.

"How are you already dressed?" Christina asked rubbing her eyes.

"Cause I've been up for a while now. I'm used to being up early." She replied with a smile. "Come on, we gotta hurry." She said more eagerly.

2 minutes later and everyone was stood in the pit looking at Four and Eric. The pit was quiet but not silent, as people were yelling orders getting things ready for a days work of defending and maintaining peace.

"There are two stages of training. The first is physical." Four began explaining as he walked round them.

"Push your bodies to the breaking point and you'll master the methods of combat." He continued.

"The second is mental. Again, breaking point." He said making the point brief as he faced them, stood back at the front.

"You'll face your worst fears and conquer them, unless they get you first." Four finished off the explanation of what training will included.

"You'll be trained separately from the Dauntless-born, but you'll he ranked together." Four explained, pointing at the nearby group of Dauntless-born as he explained.

"After initiations, ranking will determine what jobs you move into. Leadership, guarding the fence, or keeping the factionless from killing each other." Four finished.

"The ranking will also determine who gets cut." Eric said from the back of the pit.

Raven, Tris and Christina looked at each other in confusion.

"Cut?" Christina asked.

"At the end of each stage of training, the lowest-ranking initiatives will be leaving us." Eric began to explain.

"To do what?" Al asked and Raven knew exactly what would happen to them but she decided to stay quiet.

"There's no going home to your families, so you'd live factionless." Eric replied with no remorse or any emotion that Raven could detect.

"Why didn't we know that?" Will asked, almost outraged.

"It's a new rule." Eric replied in the same tone as before.

"A new rule? Someone should have told us that." Christina said slightly outraged just like Will.

"Why? Would you have chosen differently? Out of fear? I mean, if that's the case, you might as well get out now. If your really one of us, it won't matter to you that you might fail. Now, you chose us. Now we get to choose you." Eric said ending the conversation.
