The Journey: Second Ride

Max woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't fall back asleep. She could hear the tv which meant her mom was back from work.

She quietly got out of bed and walked to the living room. She saw her mom passed out on the sofa with 3 beer cans crushed on the floor.

She sighed, she was ashamed of her mom. She was a heavy drinker and had been depressed ever since leaving Neil. Max could tell she regrets divorcing him, she didn't understand why though. He was an awful abuser who said nothing but shit.

Max bent down and grabbed the beer cans. They lived in this shitty caravan park now, which was filled with drug dealers and alcoholics. An example of this is the person who lives opposite them, Eddie Munson. Who she had to hang out with a lot since he was friends with Dustin and Lucas.

She threw away the beer cans. Suddenly, she felt hands grab ahold of her waist.

"Guess who." Lucas grinned.

"Jesus Christ Lucas you scared me." Max laughed turning to face him.

He leaned into kiss her but stopped when he heard loud music playing outside.

Max rolled her eyes.

"Whats that?" Lucas asked.

"Eddie Munson. For some reason he thinks it's okay to blast Music at stupid o'clock when most people are asleep." She shut the window.

"Speaking of Eddie Munson.. he's coming on the journey." Lucas said awkwardly.

Max turned around and gave Lucas a mean look. "What?"

"Dustin invited him.." Lucas scratched the back of his head.

Max took a deep breath to contain her anger "I don't want a drug dealer joining us on the journey."

"He's getting clean! And he's not all bad.." Lucas tried to convince Max.

"He's a drug dealer, I don't know why you guys are even friends." Max was starting to lose her temper.

"I'll ask him not to talk to you!" Lucas was starting to get annoyed, he wasn't just going to let her talk shit about his friends.

"I don't like him! He's so fucking annoying and the fact he deals drugs brings him even lower on my respect list!" Max snapped.

"Im not exactly fond of your friends but you don't see me here talking shit about them in front of your face." Lucas also started to lose his temper.

"My friends don't deal drugs!" Max shouted at him.

"Oh my God-why do you keep bringing drugs into this!?" Lucas rubbed his eyes annoyed.

"I don't know Lucas maybe because he illegally sells them!" Max crossed her arms.

Their arguing woke up Susan.

"What the hell is all the arguing!?" She still sounded pretty drunk.

"I'm so sorry Mrs Mayfield." Lucas apologised.

Max rolled her eyes.

"Maxine- why- why are shouting at your handsome boyfriend? It's not very nice." Susan could barely get her words out.

"Mom go back to sleep." She looked annoyed.

"Stop- stop telling me what to do!" Susan whined.

Max stormed off to her bedroom, Lucas sighed.

"She's in a mood." Susan flopped back down on the sofa.

Lucas ran after Max he was stopped by Susan.

"Hey!! No funny business." Susan scolded him.

"Oh- uh.. Of course." Lucas nervously said, knowing exactly what happened a few hours ago.

"Of you go." Susan closed her eyes.

Lucas ran into the room and closed the door behind him.

Max was sat in a huff on the bed. Lucas walked over next to her and sat down. He looked at her.

"Sorry. I guess I overreacted i bit, I mean you are right. He is a drug dealer, and well I don't want to fight with you." Lucas went in to hug her.

She frowned, "It's fine.. just please don't let him talk to me." She hugged him.

He nodded "Of course if that's what your comfortable with."

She kissed his cheek. Which upset him, "come on? I just did all that thinking to get a kiss on a cheek!?" He frowned and went to kiss her lips.

She put her hand out to stop him, "No. you don't get one." She lightly slapped his face and laid down.

Lucas laid down next to her, "we should probably go to bed, we have to get up early tomorrow- well today- We have to get up early." He put his arm around her waist and closed his eyes.

Max smiled and quickly pecked his lips. Lucas opened his eyes, Max was already turned away.

He blushed a little and tried to sleep.

It was going to be a long journey, hopefully it would be better than their last.

I promise next chapter the journey starts. This is just a build up chapter that I rushed (sorry) . I'm sorry if there are tons of mistakes in this I'm really tired school is already bringing me down. Being set homework and already being told about exams and the toxic ass people. It just sucks. I hope you enjoyed this chapter anyway! Also yes sorry for late notice in this Eddie Munson will be joining them but he won't be in it as much as the others since he isn't exactly my favourite character.
