The Journey: Second Ride

Their alarm started ringing, Lucas groaned. Max slept through it, she was a deep sleeper.

"Maxxx" Lucas had that deep morning voice.

"Huh- what?" Max rubbed her eyes.

"We gotta get up." Lucas sat up.

"Holy shit- your voice." Max slightly bit her lip.

"What?" Lucas asked, his voice sounded normal to him.

"It's so deep-" Max chuckled.

"It is? I mean I just woke up so- is it bad?" Lucas looked worried.

"No, it's hot." Max smirked getting out of bed.

"Oh, it sounds normal to me. Anyway what time is it?" Lucas closed his eyes again.

Max threw a pillow at his head "Don't, you'll fall asleep. And it's 5:00am."

"Ugh fine." Lucas turned on the tv.

Max put her hair up in a high ponytail, "I'm gonna go shower."

"Uh huh" Lucas wasn't actually listening.

Max rolled her eyes and walked to the bathroom.

Lucas continued to watch the tv.

After 15 minutes, Max came back into the room with a towel on and her hair now in a bun.

"You look like you've seen a ghost." Max laughed "what's up?"

"Have you not seen the news?" He asked, which Max just responded with a blank look and slow head shake.

"Mikes been arrested for suspicion of freaking murder of that random girl he had a baby with." Lucas got out of bed.

"WHAT!?" Max shouted out.

"Look!" Lucas pointed at the tv.

Max sat on the end on the bed and started listening.

"Repeated news from earlier, 21 year old Michael Wheeler has been arrested and soon to be questioned for suspicion of murder. More news on this situation will be announced tomorrow at 5pm." The reporter looked quite scared.

"Holy shit.. you don't think he did that do you?" Max looked at Lucas.

"No way. Mike would never resort to actually killing somebody." Lucas turned of the tv.

"Yeah your right, he wouldn't.. There's no way he killed his own girlfriend." Max stood up again.

"Yeah let's just forget about it for now, we'll find out more tomorrow anyway." Lucas tried to smile.

Max walked over to her wardrobe and grabbed some clothes, "you all packed?" She asked. Lucas nodded, he was already changing.

After an hour they were both ready.

"Right. Ready to go pick up everybody?" Lucas smiled at Max.

Max smiled back and nodded, giving him a quick kiss.

"Then let's go!" Lucas grabbed his bag and ran out.

Max stopped smiling, this whole Mike thing was freaking her out.. it was going to be hard to not think about.

Max grabbed her bags and walked out her bedroom.

"goodbye mom. See you later!" Max walked over and hugged her hungover mom.

"Don't talk to loud Max. The world around me is spinning." Susan groaned.

Max smiled and walked out the house, she got in the car.
