The Journey: Second Ride

The plans had changed, they were planning to go to the beach tomorrow now as it had started to rain heavily. Max had agreed to cook dinner while the rest sorted out different games.

"We're kind of running low on alcohol." Dustin said looking at the 2 bottles left, one was only half full.

"I'll go to the store and get some if you'd like and get more." Lucas looked up at Dustin and grabbed his keys

"Not alone, you'll get all the shit stuff like cider." Dustin walked over to Lucas.

"Ciders not bad!" Lucas rolled his eyes.

"Yeah but it's not good for if you wanna get wasted." Dustin patted him on the back, lucas just laughed and responded with 'whatever man'

Eddie joined the conversation, "so you wanna party?" He winked. Max looked up at Lucas and reminded him of his promise.

"Not drugs Eddie." Lucas chuckled nervously.

"Try before you deny." Eddie shrugged.

"No!" Max shouted at him.

"Okay- okay sorry jeez. Anyway, I'll go with you guys to the store. I want my own shit." Eddie jumped up and joined them. The 3 left.

El laughed and leaned back in the couch, "Don't you think it's kinda sad?" El asked looking at Max who was just putting the food in the oven.

"What is?" Max said closing the oven door.

"Eddie. I mean he's hanging out with people younger than him just because the actual people he was friends with who were his own age kicked him out of that stupid band." El gently shook her head.

"Yeah, didn't they kick him out cuz' he dropped out of high school or some shit." Max asked leaning on the counter.

"Sad fact is, he was the leader of band." El scoffed.

"I wouldn't blame him though, who could focus on highschool when your being called shit like freak.. and the devil." Will looked down.

"He was just stupid." Max rolled her eyes.

"He's a nice guy Max, apart from the drugs of course. I thought you gave him a chance! I thought you two came up with some sort of truce at the pool." Will sat up and looked at Max.

"We did." Max nodded.

"Then stop talking about him like that. It makes you a huge bitch." Will was staring her down.

El's eyes widened as she chuckled the words, "holy shit."

Max's jaw slightly dropped, "excuse me Byers." She wasn't offended, she just tried to make a joke about it.

Will started laughing, "God, what made me say that?"

"You've got some fire in you Byers, respect." Max slightly hit her chest then pointed to Will.

"I swear to God, I would never say that with meaning in a million years- I have no idea what came over me." Will started panicking, like he upset somebody.

"Will calm down, I don't care. That was funny as fuck." Max laughed, Will smiled nervously and nodded.

"Chill." El pulled him back to the couch.

30 minutes passed, the food was done but Dustin, Lucas and Eddie still weren't back.

"Where the hell are they?" Max leaned her head back and yawned.

"I bet you $10 it's Dustin holding them up, getting distracted by like candles or something like that." El chuckled.

"Yeah I'm not gonna make that bet." Max agreed with El.
