The whistle blows and I'm hit with the strong force of the enemy team. I push hard against him and brush past his body to get out into the open.
Once I'm free I raise my hands up eager to catch the ball and run the touchdown. Zayn, who plays our quarterback, is searching hopelessly for an open spot until he locks eyes with me.
He spirals the ball towards me and I catch it, but when I turn to run I hit another bod, crashing me to the ground.
I hate missing the running, I feel like I let the team down completely and the fans. It's embarrassing and frustrating.
"Sorry mate, if he wouldn't have been there I would've gotten it." I nudge Zayn feeling the need to apologize as we restart the lineup.
He waves me off and tells me it's no big deal and that I should keep my eyes open for every angle.
Just then the whistle blows again and I'm attempting to make another great pass, but this time with a touchdown to follow.

Amber"Let's go get a pretzel." I suggest pulling Nicole along with me.
"Good idea, beat the halftime rush by a minute." She follows me down the bleachers and out to the concession stand.
"Hello, what can I get for you?" A voice breaks my squinting concentration from the menu. I meet eyes with a beautiful boy in front of me.
"H-hi." I gulp. He's so beautiful and takes me off guard.
"Hi." He says again with a slight laugh and a smile.
"Oh sorry," I shake my gaze, "Can I just have a pretzel with cheese please?"
"Coming right up. Hey I think I've seen you around before, you go to this school right?" He asks grabbing my change from my hand. I let out a slight gasp as his hand touches mine.
"Y-yeah I do, I'm sorry I haven't seen you around?" I would've remembered him if I had.
"Oh right, I moved here about a month ago. I'm Josh, Josh Devine." He reaches his hand out for me to shake it. I quickly rub my clammy palm on my pants and grab his.
"I'm Amber. Wow you've gotten into working the concessions already? You just move quick." I joke and he lets out a shy smile.
"Yeah, I wanted to get into the community as soon as I could. Know more people this way." His brown eyes gleam through mine.
"Yeah I guess so."
"Well here's your pretzel," he slides it across the counter towards me.
I thank him and he sends me a wink, "See you around Amber."
"Oh my gosh he was so cute! I haven't seen him before." Nicole exclaims hitting my arm as we leave the stand.
"I know, wow. And he's seen me around did you hear that? That's un heard of!" I gasp jokingly but also serious. No one really notices me, not until I've been hanging around the popular foreigns at least.

The buzzer blows calling halftime, my team rushes over into a huddle with our coaches. They go through our plans for the final half and I catch myself looking in the stands for Amber but don't see her where she was before making me anxious.
The coaches break and one brings me to the side of him, "Liam, would you go get us coaches some waters from the stand? Tell them it's for us and they'll understand."
"I think the uniform will be enough proof but alright coach." I laugh and run off the field.
I get a couple pats on the back along the way and send smiles in return, but a frown comes once I see Amber at the stand. She's talking to the new Josh kid from my physics class.
He just was telling me last week about how he was involved in his previous school principle's house catching on fire. And his many attempted escapes from the juvenile correction center.
Not the type you want to hang around I'll tell you that much.
I plan on stopping and seeing Amber while we still have a couple minutes left so I hurry to the stand so I can catch her before she goes back to the bleachers.
When I get to the stand Josh's lingering his eyes too much on Amber's backside as she walks away with Nicole.
He doesn't even notice that I'm standing here. I snap my fingers in his face impatiently with my jaw tightened.
"Oh hey Liam, sorry. What can I get you?" He glances at me then back at Amber who has now stopped to talk with a couple friends.
I tell him my order trying to keep my cool but he still isn't paying attention making my angry grow more.
"Josh!" I clench my fists on the counter.
"Sorry, sorry! Hey do you know a girl named Amber? She has pretty brown hair, cute little freckles, hazel eyes-"
"Yeah, she's my girlfriend now get on with my waters I don't have all night, I have to go back and play." When I said it, I knew it was stupid. How do I play that one off?
