Chapter 13: The Instant Sword

The Trials. Something all knights dream of taking. However very few are allowed to. Only those who'd reached the peak of what a mortal can achieve are allowed to attempt to break through the barrier of mortality. Samael was one such person. He'd reached the limit of strength a mortal can achieve and now he wanted to tread further. So he had begun his preparation. While it is indeed true that he cannot gain more combat power he can increase his effective combat power. And that was what he was aiming for. If he wanted to become stronger he needed to pass the trial, however, that does not mean he cannot increase his efficiency and effectiveness in combat. He'd reached a limit in terms of stats but not in terms of skills or technique. That was something he could improve and he continued doing so, all the while improving his cultivation. He had 7 days on hand to do it. After the 7 days were done he'd need to take the trial. How long the trial took however would depend on him.

Samael had always wondered what the moment of life and death, the moment when one is not stuck in either, felt like. He had developed his sword style immensely and had indeed created a move called The Instant. However now when he performed it he realised just how rudimentary it was. When he had created it he believed it would be the strongest move anybody had ever seen. While that is true in terms of potential in terms of effectiveness it was still very lacking. So he started thinking how to improve the technique. He realised the best way to do it was to think back to the principals that it functioned on. He had rudimentaly compressed time with brute force and using a lot of void energy forcefully turned it into a hyperdimensional attack. This was however utterly brutish in nature. So he started thinking more on how to improve the technique and he realised the best way to do it was to have a near death experience. To understand what the moment of Life and Death truly felt like. So he started to meditate and go through his memories wondering how he could have a near death experience. Suddenly he realised how to do it. By using void energy he could forcefully stop all his bodily functions effectively 'dying' momentarily.

With this in mind he prepared. After his preparation was complete he willed the void energy to drop all his bodily functions. Suddenly Samael started to feel cold. As though all the heat in the world were gone. Time seemed to slow down to a crawl and he could feel something tugging on his soul wanting to claim it. However he was determined. He wanted to become the strongest and to do that he needed to break past the fear of death. After all when he wanted to become the strongest how could he let something like death scare him. Mustering all of his will power he resisted against the pull and revived himself. When he sat up he realised that something in him had changed. Wanting to test something out he went over to his training room.

In the training room there were many dummies all around. Samael stood in the middle with his eyes closed. He was trying to remember what he had felt back there in that moment when time seemed to have stopped and space seemed like it was a malleable substance. Suddenly he opened his eyes and swung the sword in his hand. His eyes suddenly started to glow. After trying for 17 times he had finally succeeded. He had created a true hyperdimensional attack. Once he swung the blade time seemed to stop all around him. The peson who was attacked would feel no danger for his brain would be incapable of processing the feeling of danger. Space would become a joke and distance would be irrelevant. The person who is attacked would see the blade moving at normal speed but they would not be able to move for even if they could see the blade their brains could not process the thoughts fast enough and neither could their bodies react in time. This was the true horror of The Instant Sword. The ability to surpass Space and Time. A true Hyperdimensional attack. One that truly cannot be avoided. 

On the other hand, 1 week was up. It was time for him to take on the Trial for the First Tier of the Divine Level.
