You failed. Correction, you failed your goal of reaching the Hidden Sand Village before the sun set below the horizon. As you let out a sigh, you glanced over at the blue eyed man that you now knew to be Deidara.
"Looks like we're going to have to camp for the night." You stated.
He frowned at your comment clearly not pleased at the very thought that you weren't continuing onward.
"We can go for a while longer, un." he protested.
"No, it's not safe to go roaming the desert at night. If you want to keep going, then you can go, but I'm camping right here."
Sitting down, you crossed your arms while shutting your eyes just to express how serious you were. While you hoped that he would remain with you, you also didn't want to come off as someone that he could just push around since you couldn't stand the idea of it. No man was going to take advantage of you, and there was no way that you were going to push yourself past your limits. You were tired from running across the desert, and if you continued, you would collapse before the sun arose to cook you alive again.
"Good luck trying to find the Sand without me." you added.
After a few seconds of silence, you opened your eyes to make sure that Deidara didn't disappear on you. He was still standing there looking down at you with an emotionless expression. You had no idea what he was thinking. It was hard to read him, but you figured that he was irritated since it was reasonable to assume so.
"Fine."
He sat down on the ground next to you. His eyes shut. You looked away not wanting to be a creep by staring at him. With the temperature of the desert dropping with every passing second, you shivered. This was of the many things that you hated about the desert, and while you normally never got cold, you were now freezing. You honestly assumed that it had something to do with the temperature change. Back home, the temperature stayed the constant moderate warmth with rain always falling. Now, you were in a place where it never rained, and it goes from freaking hot to ice cold in an instant once the sun set.
"Are you cold, un?"
Snapping your attention back to Deidara, you felt your cheeks getting warm at the huge smirk on his face.
"No." You lied.
"You're a terrible liar, un." he replied.
"I'm fine."
"Then why are you shivering? You can't tell me that you're not cold when you're shaking like that, un."
Not knowing what to say, you took off your backpack then pulled out one of your lightest jackets then placing it on.
"There, I'm better now."
Deidara chuckled slightly.
"You're still shaking."
"I'm fine."
"If you say so, un."
Laying down on his back, Deidara shut his eyes again while still smirking in amusement. You glared at him before copying him. Even though you were cold, you weren't going to admit it now.
{Next Morning}
"Hey (y/n), un."
Rolling on your side, you tried to ignore the voice above you since you were having a fabulously weird dream about a huge chicken chasing you then it exploded for some reason leaving behind only little pieces of feathers falling from the sky. Truly, this was one of the most strange dreams that you had in a while, and dreams like this always meant something that would slap you in the face later.
"(Y/n) get up, un."
What could your dream possibly mean? You never seen an exploding chicken before, do they even exist? No, they don't.
"(Y/N)!"
Shooting straight up, you flinched as your head hit something. Two grunts of pain came out surprising you for a moment before you realized what had happened.
"I'm sorry!" You croaked.
Deidara rubbed his nose while scowling at you. It then occurred to you that he had been sitting directly in front of your face.
"Why the hell were you sitting over me?" You snapped.
"Because you weren't waking up, un." he snapped back, "We really need to get going."
"Huh?"
The sun shined brightly making you quickly jump to your feet.
"Oh my god! We have to get going."
"That's what I was trying to tell you, un."
"Okay, we're moving out."
He didn't bother going on with the conversation since he figured that you weren't even listening to him at this point. Your travels to the Hidden Sand Village continued on.
