"I know that you still have hope that this is all just a dream, but it's not."
Gritting your teeth, you glared at the man that stood at the end of the bed. Just a nameless Anbu from the Leaf, or that's what Mio had said when she mentioned that they wanted to question you. It seemed more and more like they just wanted to catch you as a comrade to Deidara in the acts of terrorism against the Sand. Yeah, that's what they were calling it now. A whole three days since the incident have gone by without any signs of Deidara.
"I didn't say that I thought it was all just a dream." you protested.
"Well, you're sure acting like it."
You had to suck in a breath. They were just trying to get the bigger picture of what had happened. You had told the story, but this time, you had to repeat it to the people that it counts for.
"I went through an explosion that should have killed me."
The words exited your lips as you thought back to the day. The images made their way back causing you to tremble. You could have died, yet you didn't. It could have been luck, or maybe, Deidara had spared your life. No, he didn't spare you. He didn't give a damn about you. That was obvious by the fact that he blew the whole room up. If he cared, he would have shouted a warning towards you. However, he didn't, which only made you hate the whole situation more.
"I should have died."
Not bothering to comfort you, the Anbu stood up. His face was pointed in your direction, but you couldn't tell anything with the mask on.
"Well, we'll be in touch. If you have any contact with-..."
"Deidara, I'll alert the Sand shinobi right away."
God, they acted like you had no idea what the hell you were doing. It irritated you more than the fact that you were forced to stay here against your will. You should have been at Mio's house enjoying everything that the Sand had to offer, but no. You're stuck in a hospital for another two days. Grunting, you turned regardless of the pain that stirred in your ribcage.

Sleeping in a hospital was hard, but you knew that there was no way that you would get out of here without rest. Your body was healing. It just needed the help of energy and other things that sleep would provide. Groaning, you tried not to move. The pain had gone away thanks to the painkillers, which was such a relief. The agony of your ribs had made it hard to breath. Doctor Hiro kept bothering you about the fact that you hadn't slept on your stomach. That ended with a long conversation telling him how you did not trust your own body weight on your fragile ribs.
Mio had visited you one more time before the nurses kicked her out because visiting hours were over, but that didn't stop your cousin from sneaking you a thing of Pocky that you secretly stored underneath your bed. Everyone treated you like you were going to break at any given moment, so you didn't have to worry about anyone finding it. Smirking, you knew that if sleep never came, you would be eating it within the midnight hour. It would be just like home.
"Pocky is all mine." you muttered under your breath.
Shutting your eyes, you were zoning out when the sound of the door caused you to flinch. You half expected to see Mio or Doctor Hiro, but instead, there was a tall dark-haired male looking at a clipboard. Since it was right directly in front of his face, you couldn't tell who he was.
"(Y/n) (L/n)?" the male said in a dark voice.
He lowered the clipboard to reveal two honey brown eyes and a wide grin with canines that seemed a little too sharp.
