The image repeated in your head repeatedly as you continued to stare up at the blackened ceiling where bits of ashes came down. An explosion had been set off in the room just hours ago when it became apparent that Deidara was not who he claimed to be. You shut your eyes while holding back the urge to cry.
You had been this way ever since you woke up in time to watch the corpses of what had once been the Anbu carried out of the room. Sure, you had survived the blast, but whenever someone tried to grab you, you refused to leave. This had been all your fault. You had let Deidara into the Hidden Sand Village without even bothering to question his reasoning. Now, there were people dead.
"(Y/n)?" Mio's voice echoed through the silence.
She appeared in your line of vision. Tears pouring down her face as she moved closer. Without even thinking, you grasped on tightly to her. Your heart hammered away as you found some relief in the fact that someone you knew fully well was now present. It didn't matter that there were people still in the room that had tried to help you earlier. Your cousin had been the only one that meant anything.
"He killed everyone." you muttered.
Your voice sounded hoarse from not drinking any liquids for a while. Though, it still held power that stopped everyone in their tracks. Prior to your announcement, the medical ninjas and attendants had no clue what had happened. They tried to question you, but you had been in a complete state of shock. Due to this, they didn't want to press you for answers right away. They had planned on cleaning the room and checking your wounds before getting down to the point.
"Who killed everyone?" Mio asked.
"Deidara." you answered.
Your voice cracked as dread filled your stomach. You were so close to being killed. If it hadn't been for the bed that knocked you against the wall, you would have been burned to ash as well. That's all you could think of as your grip on your cousin tightened. Your throat was beginning to burn from crying.
"I could have died. I could have been like the Anbu."
"Ssh, it's okay."
Mio petted you softly on your back as she pulled you closer to her body. It hurt everywhere, but you couldn't help ignoring it for the sole moment of comfort that Mio brought with this action.
"I'm sure that you would have survived no matter what." Mio said, "You're tough after all."
As much as you wanted to disagree with her statement, you didn't want to agree with the statement, you didn't say anything. You just let it all sink it.
"Excuse me ma'am." One of the medical ninjas said, "As much as we don't want to get between you two, we're going to have to check for any fatal wounds on that girl."
Mio released you as a man randomly picked you up. You grunted in pain, but you didn't fight them seeing as this was all to ensure that you were alright.

Deidara panted as he stood on top of the wall of the Hidden Sand Village. Frowning, he wondered how long he had been out. It couldn't have been long seeing as it was nearly morning, but he had been wrong before like when he had trusted his own instinct in direction to the Sand. That ended with failure as he found himself hopelessly lost. If it hadn't been for that girl, (y/n), he wouldn't be here right now, and his mission would have ended before it even began. However, he now had the problem of dealing with the Anbu that managed to find him in the village.
