A whole day of travel had left you practically unable to continue on. After going through the desert for two days, your body was nearly giving up on you. It would have been a lie if you were to say that you were a ninja. You were just a girl that worked in one of the many growing silk villages near the Hidden Leaf. You had never been so far away from home, nor have you actually strained yourself this much. However, you weren't going to admit any of this to your travel buddy, who seemed just fine from what you could tell. In fact, he seemed even happier as the day went on. It confused you seeing that it was only getting hotter. Then, it happened. Deidara abruptly fell face first into the sand. You yelped before rushing to his aid. Barely able to push him onto his back, you examined him. His face had turned bright red. His breathing came out in pants, and he was oozing sweat. From all of these traits, you assumed that he was now suffering from both dehydration and overheating. Seeing as he wore a heavy black cloak, it was safe to assume that played a huge role in his current state.
Now, it was obvious that you needed to get him out of the sun for a while and try to cool him down. If you didn't, he would die. The only problem...you had no shade to provide, nor could you carry him.
"You stupid baka!" you cursed under your breath.

Luck must have been on our side because shinobi from the Sand were passing by. Stopping at the sight of you two, they agreed to help after explaining who you were along with your reasons for coming to the Sand. It was such a relief. Now resuming your journey, it didn't seem to take nearly as long to finally reach the village. You smiled to yourself wondering if everything would be okay now. Your eyes shut regardless of the voices of surprise that were telling you not to let the darkness consume you.
You had no real idea how long you were out, but when you came to, you found yourself hooked up to an IV and breathing machine. Clearly in a hospital, your eyes went from left to right looking for some sign of explanation for what was going on. That's when you caught a glance of brown. Two blue eyes peered back at your own (e/c) orbs.
"Thank Kami!" Mio, your older cousin, practically shouted, "(Y/n), you're okay!"
Her arms wrapped around your body hurting you. She didn't seem to notice your discomfort. A loud beeping noise filled the air causing her to let go. The both of you looked over at the machine in the corner of the room that had gone clearly unnoticed. It continued to beep as you realized that it was a heart monitor.
"Am I in the hospital?" you meekly asked.
"Yes." she answered in the same tone.
The heart monitor sucked all excitement out of her.
"When did that happen?"
"When you passed at the gates. You know; you're lucky that there were ninjas coming back from a mission because no one would have found you."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah, what did you expect? The gates are a huge gap between a rock that surrounds the village. No one ever bothers to come through there unless they are coming in, and we rarely get visitors out here. We're literally in the middle of the desert."
"Well, isn't there anyone that is acting as look out?"
"Yeah, but they wouldn't have seen you right away."
"They must suck then."
"(Y/N)! You can't say that!"
"I don't give a shit! I am not going to sugar coat what I am thinking."
