"What!?" I exclaimed. "Yes. For real!" Uncle replied. I was really scared after knowing the reason behind uncle's sudden change of plan. He had told us that he saw someone with a gun there!

"I assume he was here to shoot Rahul. I couldn't just toss him into danger like this" he stepped forward towards Rahul with teary eyes. Putting his hands on Rahul's shoulders, he said, "Rahul is just like my son. I never expressed what I felt like when he wasn't here. I missed him everyday. I missed his charm, his tantrums, his pranks, his stubbornness, his laughter, his voice.....his presence! I actually prayed to God everyday to send him back knowing that it was impossible. But see.." He looked towards me," God did miracle!" looking towards Rahul again, he continued "he is back! Now, I couldn't ask for anything more. My child is back!" he swept his tears. Stepping towards the window, he spoke, "I cannot afford losing him again. Not at any cost. This is a very serious matter. We have to be cautious."

"Yes." his life is our responsibility now.

"Oh God!" Rahul spoke. "You all have become so dramatic" he teased us. "Aarohi, what's with these heavy dialogues?? Did you practice acting while I was gone? Please don't worry..."

"No!" Uncle turned towards us and spoke in a serious tone "this is not a joke. Your life is not a joke! You are irresponsible, not me. Just stay here for now. I'll think of a plan and call you." He stepped towards the door
"But.." he stopped and turned towards me, "don't let him go out. Whenever the doorbell rings, don't open it if its none if our acquaintances. And keep him inside the room if someone comes in!" he said more in a warning tone and closed the door behind him.

I glanced at Rahul and he was somewhat disappointed. "Why this long face?" I asked him.

He sighed, "don't you think this is too much?"

"What?" I asked in a soft tone.

"All this... behaviour. I am being treated like a child. Don't go out. Don't open the door to strangers. Get locked in a room..i'm tired yarr."

"I understand baba. But please try to understand. Its all for you only. We are being protective because we have experienced the pain of losing you and don't want to experience it again at any cost!"

"I understand. But please let me get involved in your plan. Let me give my opinion. Let me have some freedom!" I could feel his anger and disappointment in his voice.

I cupped his cheeks and said, "listen, just a week. Please! Once you give your clarification to the people, everything will be normal. You will get your freedom. We will be able to get freely. I can understand you're not comfortable but just think that this is the only option. And for a week, just follow uncle's advice, hmm?"

He exhaled sharply, and slowly looked at me "okay!" That okay didn't sound so okay but forcing him more wasn't something I was gonna do

He exhaled sharply, and slowly looked at me "okay!" That okay didn't sound so okay but forcing him more wasn't something I was gonna do. We left it all to Uncle. Whatever he will tell us, we're going to follow. And I pray for everything to be normal again.

Rahul:

I said okay. But I wasn't feeling comfortable. The whole situation was really suffocating. I knew uncle wanted the best for me but I wasn't a kid was I? I felt like a child being protected by his parents from outside world.

I came back being confident and stronger but I guess the people around me didn't find me much reliable. I was constantly being told about what to do and what not to do.

But I had to tolerate. I had to believe in uncle. I had to listen to Aarohi. Just for her sake, I kept quiet. When I looked into her eyes, I saw the fear which tore my soul. I didn't want to argue with her. I wanted her to believe that I won't ever do anything to which she doesn't give her consent. Since I'm all hers now, all my decisions would involve her now. I'm going to do what she tells me to do.

Because I know she will not make me do anything stupid. That, I will stand on the right path one day, if I follow what she says.
