"What's going to happen to me?" Amelia asked the officer, pushing away her confusion and sadness over her parents' deaths. The officer thought for a moment. "We'll take you to an orphanage for tonight. Next morning, you'll have some new parents," he stated. Amelia nodded. Even though getting new parents was going to be difficult, Amelia was glad she would have someone to share her life with. And then her friends would always have her back, too. Amelia smiled. "I can't wait to get back to school!" The officer, who had been on the phone, stared at her. "Your parents don't want you to go to school there. You'll be going to school at Ryleigh Parkson Junior High." Amelia closed her eyes. "What about all my friends?" The officer shrugged. "Anyway, just so you know, I'm Pete." He winked at her. "Put in a good word for me at the station, will you?" Amelia turned away from him and thought hard. She was going to leave her school and join a new one. Grief overcame her. All her friends and teachers would be gone. Her parents were dead. She was getting new parents. Amelia rubbed her eyes. The officer's words echoed in her ears. Nobody had been in the house when her parents died. What could that mean? Someone had to have killed them. It was impossible! And they definitely did not kill themselves. Why would they do that? They loved Amelia, they loved their jobs, they loved their life. What could have caused their deaths? The mystery surrounding their sudden deaths made her vow to find out who killed her parents. No matter what it took. Amelia climbed into the police car with those words in her mind. She would find out. As the car sped towards the Grover Orphanage, Amelia wondered how the place would be like. They passed shops and stores, parks and As the car stopped outside the building, she saw it was tall and intimidating. The door was smooth oak and as they waited on the steps, Amelia looked around. She saw bushes and trees, lots of grass, and rocks. Just then, the door opened and a sweet looking old woman with snowy hair and clear blue eyes smiled at them. "Welcome. You must be Amelia."
