They were all finally sat down together; around the table, each with their own steaming cup of hot chocolate to take the edge away from the frightening truth of all the hard work that was about to start.
Rose had already grabbed her bag, the reminder sitting right next to them with the information that needed to be handed out to John, Lily, and herself when the time came after they all had understood what chores would be theirs.
"So, this meeting has been called as we need to figure out how we'll be handling the new situation. With the new world. I have come up with a list of first steps that need to be taken to ensure that we all stay safe, and that we won't run out of food." Rose briefly paused, giving it a bit of time for what she was talking about to sink in.
Rose glanced over at John before then doing the same to Lily, they were both nodding their heads, looking, and probably feeling, just as serious as Rose was.
Lily understood what was going on, there was a lot that needed to happen, she was glad that they'd finally started taking it seriously how dangerous it could be outside. When worlds are newly formed, they don't have much oxygen in the air, it is a particle that comes with time.
It takes thousands of years to ensure that the air is breathable without making humans become ill from carbon dioxide poisoning, as until trees grew, it would be the most if the gases humming in the air.
She remembered learning about it in science before she stopped attending school. They had been learning and exploring about planets forming, going into detail about the earth forming.
Lily had been waiting to find out when their sanity would catch up on them, Ecstatic that it was sooner rather than later. She had woken up this morning stressing about what it is that she was meant to do to get them to pay attention to the dangers.
She just had to keep reminding herself that not all good things that came in pretty packages were good. Lily made sure her brain was empty so she could concentrate whole heartedly on the new structure that this would bring.
John was still tired, Rose had caught him on the surface asleep, he had been sleeping for at least a couple of hours before she had found him. He was perplexed at why he was so tired. He felt slightly better after a while since he had come back down in the bunker.
John was attempting not to fret too much for the cause of his sudden fatigue that had hit him today, they all had been under a lot of stress lately, it was most likely from finally being able to relax, all of the worries eventually catching up to him.
"It is a good idea; I remember having gone to an orientation day about it during the time I'd gone away to this village for work experience. Do you have any notes that we would be able to discuss so we all have the information before talking about the list you have for all of us to complete?" John asked politely.
Rose smiled pulling her bag closer to be able to get the ruffled notes out of it. The pages slipped out with ease from the book Rose had stuffed them in to keep them securely in place. She hadn't wanted them to get any more torn up and be unreadable.
She slid the notes over to them, so they could read them whenever they wanted to, but would still explain it to them in the meantime.
"Of course. All my notes are here, there is a lot that we need to make sure is alright on the surface. For instance, we need to make sure that the air is breathable, if it isn't it can damage our lungs or give us carbon dioxide poisoning. One way I learnt to do this is through certain plants if you don't have the technology. We need to find soil to plant the plants to find out how much we need to accomplish on the ground before it is habitable. We also should make some paper and ink. It would be valuable to have, before we run out of what little we currently do have. I know that we need to research more into what properties are in the ground. But I didn't learn that in my orientation, so I don't know how. The weather patterns are key to being able to get our crops to grow as they grow in different seasons. Plus, I want us to eventually find a way to run this planet without ruining it like humans did on earth. If we are lucky." Rose rambled on without taking a minute to breathe.
