"So you two are seriously dating?" Edward asked, starting his car. "Yes, I like him," Emily loosened the pearl. The memory of his fingers on her shoulder jolted awake. "Emmy...he is a good guy, but be careful, alright? He is my best friend but you are my sister you come first. I don't want to see you hurt yourself again over someone who doesn't deserve you, " he said, looking ahead.

It was rare for Edward to show affection towards her between their fights. She felt nice, "Ed, I know you are worried, but maybe neither of us will get hurt," she said. At that moment she wanted to tell him that he wouldn't hurt her, he couldn't, she didn't give him that power. They had a deal. It was strictly business, but she chose silence and looked ahead.

"Everything will be fine," she said. "It better be," he took the turn to their house. "Emmy, be careful," he said. "I will, and if something goes wrong, I have you, we will paint his backyard pink," she said. "Sure," he laughed. She took his hand and squeezed it, she didn't have to speak, they understood each other in those rare moments. "See you at home, twinie," she said, getting out. "Emmy," he called out.

"Yeah," she poked her head through the window, "if mum and dad ask, you didn't drink," he said. "They would know," she said. "Still, I would never hear the end of it if I let you drink," he said. "You are just five minutes older than me," she rolled her eyes. "Best five minutes of my life, still," he said. "Fine, come in," she said.

"How was it?" Her mother asked as she sat next to her on the couch. "It was fun, exciting," she said, pressing her feet. "Glad, you are having fun," she said. Emily took a bite of the cookies in front of her. "Was he there?" she asked, flipping her magazines. "Yes, with Isabel," Emily said as Edward entered. "What are we talking about?" he sat next to her mother. "William," she said. Edward leaned into their mother. "He was a jerk," he said.

"Have fun talking, ladies. I am going to bed," he got up. He kissed Mum on his cheek, "Goodnight, Mum."Goodnight, sweetheart."

He tousled Emily's hair, "Go to bed, Emmy." he walked upstairs. "Wanna watch something?" Emily asked. "I am tired, I was waiting for you both," she got up.

"Have an early class tomorrow, professor?" Emily asked. "Yes, an extra. Emily, be careful with your heart, honey. " she kissed her daughter on the cheek, "goodnight, love."Goodnight, Mum," she called.

She leaned back. Sam was not the boy people would expect her to date at all, not after she dated Will. He was the exact opposite of William with his looks and devil-may-care attitude, Emily could feel the concern of her mother. Of course, she was worried Sam would dump her. Sam always did that. Emily could only guess what her father would say to everything. It was not going to be pretty.

She closed her eyes. Tomorrow was Sunday, and she could finally get some rest the past two days have been crazy. She needed time to process the mess she was creating. She pulled her phone and scrolled through Instagram. She came across Sam's account, which was filled with pictures of him at parties with the rest of his friends. It was vibrant. She scrolled through it when a text from an unknown number popped up.

"Emily?"
She furrowed her brows.

Emily: "Yes, who is this?"

"Your boyfriend, the one you are fake dating,"

A smile spread on her lips.

Emily: How did you get my number?

Sam: Your brother

Emily: Really?

Sam: No, but I asked Gwyn for it

Emily: Could've just asked me

Sam: Could have

Emily: What did you want?

Sam: Open your window

Emily: You are not

She turned around, the last thing she needed was Sam to near her window.

Sam: I am not. I just wanted to ask if you are free tomorrow evening?

Emily: Are you taking me on a date?

Sam:Yes

Emily: Where?

Sam: At the beach, at the campfire, everyone will be there. You are going?

Emily: Sure, will they be there?

Sam: Everyone will

Emily: I am in

Sam: Great, and could you ask Gwyn to come ? James has been bothering me

Emily: Sure

Sam: Alright, bye, Angel

Emily: Bye, darling.

She threw her phone on the couch. Tomorrow was the campfire everyone was talking about, the one she was about to go to with William. Instead, she was going with Sam. Every plan she had toppled over, she had to start over. She closed her eyes and pulled herself up, somehow walking up to her room.

Her alarm rang as she repeatedly hit snooze. The alarm didn't even let her sleep on Sundays. She groaned and went down still in her unicorn pajamas. She was still sleepy, she rubbed her eyes and took a seat at the table. "Good morning, dad," she said, putting her head down. Her head throbbed.

"He is not home. Get up, Emmy," Edward's voice came. She only hummed in response. "Still sleepy?" came a voice. She jolted awake to see Sam sitting right across her. "Good morning, angel," Sam said with a smile. She rubbed her eyes, and she was still sleepy. Why would Sam be anywhere near her house on Sunday morning?  "What are you doing here?" She asked. "They have been having breakfast in our house on Sundays for the last few years. What have you been doing?" Edward said.

"They," she asked. "Hi," James said from the couch as Rowan walked into the kitchen, "Good morning Emily," he sat next to Edward. "Why don't I know about it?" she asked. "Because most days you oversleep and some days you take your food up, claiming time for," she cut him off.

"I know what I say," she said, remembering all her pajamas and her hair coming out of her braids and sometimes drool sticking on her cheek. Shit, "How many years?" She asked. She was oblivious in her own home.

"Around five," James said, walking toward them. "Great," she smiled, removing her hair from her face. "Just great, what's for breakfast?" Emily asked. "Pancakes, and there are fruits there. Help yourself," Edward said. She piled on pancakes as she caught his eyes.

Sam: Nice pajamas

Her phone lighted up with his message popping. "Jerk," she mouthed as he ate with a smile.
