Brian, Jessica, and Roman all sat together at the bar. Not a single word had been uttered between the three of them yet. They were all still trying to process everything they had just witnessed. Jessica anxiously fiddled with her fingers. It felt like this job just kept getting more and more dangerous with every minute that passed. It was overwhelming.
"Shit was crazy, man..." Roman muttered after a while, shaking his head. Roman had never seen anything like that before. Brian nodded in agreement. They were all on edge.
"He was trying to establish dominance. He wants us to know that he won't hesitate to do something like that - if not worse - to us," Jessica spoke. She grabbed her drink off of the bar counter and quickly downed the rest of it. She couldn't remember how many drinks they had consumed. At this point, she was drunk.
"We all need some rest. We should head home," Brian said, pulling out his wallet. He grabbed two twenties out and set it down on the counter, paying not only for himself but Roman and Jessica too. Jessica smiled at the gesture.
"You didn't have to do that," Jessica said. Brian shrugged it off. Jessica hopped off of the bar stool. She felt a little unsteady, that last drinking hitting her hard. Brian noticed she hadn't moved yet.
"You okay?" Brian asked, his eyes searching the girls face. She nodded.
"Yeah, I'm good, just not in any state to be driving. How much do you think a cab would cost from here to my place?" Jessica asked, looking up at Brian. Brian thought for a moment.
"Probably too much," Brian replied honestly. Jessica frowned. She didn't want to spend loads of money just to get home. "I can take you home."
"You've been drinking tonight too, my place is too far," Jessica told him, shaking her head. She didn't want to be responsible for anything happening.
"Then just crash at my place. Roman and I are already headed that way. It's not far, we could probably walk there if you're not comfortable with me driving tonight," Brian said, which earned a small smile from Jessica.
"Are you sure?" Jessica asked. She didn't want to be an inconvenience. Brian nodded.
"Positive. You can even borrow some clothes," Brian said. Jessica smiled again. He was being so nice.
"Okay. Thank you so much Brian," Jessica told him sincerely. They gathered their things and left the club. As soon as the fresh air hit Jessica, she started to sober up. She was definitely regretting her choice to wear heels. Her feet were killing her.
