Aniya.

    ...... Two months later

"Happy Birthday." Briana ran up giving me a hug.

"Thank you." I hugged her back excited it was my birthday.

Briana readjusted her bag to fit her shoulders properly. "I'm surprised you came to school today."

"I wasn't going to, with this one in my ear begging me to skip..." I gestured to Chase who was holding my hand beside me. "...But the thought of finals really decided for me."

Briana scoffed "Finals. Please don't remind me. I still haven't decided on what college I to go to." She stressed.

"This is the problem with you girls." Chase began walking to grab some breakfast.

We followed behind him questioning his meaning. "What do you mean by that exactly?" Briana grabbed a tray.

"Yeah, what do you mean?" I gave my tray to Ms. Pasty. "Bagel please."

Chase grabbed his tray of eggs and sausage. "Stop worrying about the future. Let's live now."

Briana instantly shook her head, disagreeing. "This is Senior year. We are five months away from graduating, these things are priorities. We can't just put them on the side lines."

Chase rolled his eyes. "You're going to regret all that one day. Later in life, you're going to wish you were still in high school."

"You might be right." Briana stated as we all sat down. "But I'd rather have a plan going for myself and reminisce, than be confused. Change is coming no matter what, there's no slowing it down."

Chase shrugged his Shoulders, clearly disagreeing with Briana. "What do you think?" Chase turned towards me.

I sighed. I've always found myself in the middle of there debate. Where is Ryan and everyone else?

"Aniya?" Chase smiled at me. "Any thoughts?"

I smiled back at him. "I think you're both right. We should be focused on the present and the future."

Briana shook her head. "That does not answer which one should be prioritized."

"It does." I faced Briana. "Why can't we have fun but not let it get in the way of our studies?" I questioned.

"But that's still prioritizing studies because when it comes down to it, we are going to have to choose books over parties." She couldn't help but point out. "Just saying. But I'm not going to argue with the birthday girl."

I picked up my little container of cream cheese, spreading it across my bagel. "Arguing over partying or choosing colleges is no fun. Let's just enjoy our food in each other's embrace." I took a bite of my bagel.

Chase smiled picking up his fork digging into his meal. "I agree."

"Me too." Briana popped open her yogurt.

I looked around the cafeteria checking the time. "Where is everyone?"

Chase looked up at me, his face showing confusion. "I have no clue."

I turned to Briana. "Where's your boyfriend?" I asked her. Her and Connor got together Christmas Day actually.

"Doctors appointment." She smiled shoving another spoon full in her mouth.

"I'll text Melanie, there's no way she's not coming today." I pulled out my phone texting my friend. I looked back up at the two next to me. "No one finds this strange?"
They looked at each other before looking back down at their meal.
