After ascending through the levels of the Sunshine Institute, Sonic, Jesse, and friends burst through the doors, intent on escaping again.
Sonic: Which way do we go?
Xara: (pointing to the right) This way! The entrance to the maze is just around this corner!
Sonic: You lead the way, Xara. After all, you know the maze better than any of us.
Xara nods as she runs ahead of the group.
Before they can go any further, however, Sonic, Jesse, and friends notice something up ahead.
Tails: Don’t look now, guys, but I think we have a bit of a situation up ahead…
A short distance away, the group sees the former Warden holding a set of flint and steel and a block of TNT in another while yelling,
Warden: Back... Stay back! Take one more step and it's KABOOMSVILLE for all of you!
Approaching the guests surrounding the Warden, Sonic then says,
Sonic: What's going on here?
Noticing the group approaching, the Warden then says,
Warden: Jesse... Sonic!
Shadow: Looks like someone got themselves into trouble with the guests...
Warden: No kidding...
Just then, one of the guests, a man white hair and an eyepatch over his left eye, turns to Sonic and Jesse and says,
Guest #1: Hey! You're guests like us, so why don't you help us take on the Warden? It'll make for a great team-building exercise. And as a bonus, we'll get the chance to finally pay the Warden back for what he's done! It's win-win!
To this, Jesse shakes his head and replies,
Jesse: Hey, come on, guys... Don't you think he's suffered enough already?
Sonic: He's got a point... This guy's just as trapped here as any of you... And while he's done some... bad things to you, doing the same to him won't make you any better.
Warden: My thoughts exactly... (to the guests) Now step back unless you want to...
Just then, the Warden notices Xara standing next to Jesse and says,
Warden: You... you freed Prisoner X?! Oh, great, just when I thought you couldn't make things worse... WHAT IN THE WORLD WERE YOU THINKING?!
Before either Sonic or Jesse can reply, the guests see Xara as one of them exclaims,
Guest #2: Oh crud, it's Prisoner X! Run!
Frightened, the guests surrounding the Warden quickly run away.
Warden: Have you all lost your minds?! Prisoner X is bad news all around!
Jesse: She doesn't deserve to be locked up in this place, forever. None of us do!
Sonic: And that's why we got her out... We wanted out of this place, and since Prisoner X knew her way around, we figured, why don't we get her to help us? So that's just what we did.
Warden: You... You're serious about this, aren't you?
Shadow: Of course we are. Why else would we have gotten ourselves moved to the Zombie Mines?
