Ellie.

The air was a lot cooler as Harry and I walked out of the cafe. His hand instinctively wrapped around mine, the other being used to pull his shirt in and out in some effort to provide himself some relief from the perspiration that coated his chest. His cherry lips were pursed slightly, forehead dampened in sweat from the heated building we had just left.

"So, what's the verdict? Broken AC aside," I glance up at him, wanting to know what he thought of the food. The air conditioning seemed to have broken in the cafe the moment we stepped in, leaving us and all of the customers basking in the small, humid oven, smelling even more of warm pancakes and cinnamon than before.

"Well, it was pretty good when I wasn't feeling like I was being baked in the gingerbread man's asshole." He jokes, widening his eyes for emphasis.

"There's always something going on with his air conditioning. I probably should have warned you," I laugh, tucking a few strands of curls behind my ear as the wind whips them around. We step off a curb and walk toward the baby store across the plaza. We were halfway through breakfast when harry pointed out that we hadn't gone baby shopping, and when I told him we had, he clarified that he meant together. I ordered a bunch of stuff online, and he occasionally stopped by stores after work, but it was nothing we'd done as parents together.

So that's what we were doing now. I still have no idea what Harry has planned for the entire day, but I don't mind. I'm just glad to be spending time with him and excited to go baby shopping for the first time, even though I know Aaliyah has everything she needs for the most part.

The area around us is busy; all the stores in the complex having opened up now. We stop as a few cars drive by in search of a parking spot. One woman in a red Toyota is visibly frustrated with the lack of parking, making Harry's shoulders vibrate in a chuckle.

"She's gonna pop a fuckin' vessel with that vein in her forehead," He points out amusedly.

"I don't know why it's so busy; it's usually quiet," I say, looking around as my hand instinctively gravitates toward my full belly. I rub gentle circles, making Harry glance down at me.

"He giving you a hard time?"

"No, I'm just full," I laugh, softly squeezing his hand for no reason. We walk across the pavement and toward the store when the coast is clear.

"Good, because we're not gonna eat for the next few hours– gotta save room for dinner,"

"And what's for dinner?" I ask, wondering since we hadn't talked about nor made plans regarding it.

"I made reservations for the Fig Tree, I thought we could take advantage of our last couple of weeks of alone time," He explains, making my eyes go round with surprise.

"You did?"

"Don't look so shocked," He laughs at my reaction as we start to walk toward the store entrance. "Besides, I like to do nice things for pretty girls," He adds as he leans forward to pull the door open. I give him a sarcastic look at the timing of his words, but it's only met with a cheeky, dimpled grin. One I can't help but mirror at the thought of him planning a reservation for us in an attempt to spend more time with me before Aaliyah gets here. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who was concerned about that.

The store is fairly large, playing a soft beat toddler tune and being decorated with large advertisements of kids and babies rocking a multitude of brands. There are walls lined with just baby shoes, and they make my heart swell. Harry gently drops my hand to grab a buggy, leaning over it with his elbows when he gets it. I slide my hand into his back pocket, waddling next to him as we slowly begin to walk around.
