"No. No, no, no!" Terrence cried.
"Great, that's just.." I sighed.
"Damn it all to hell," Joey growled.
Charlotte had fallen asleep in the back seat, or I'm sure Terrence would be hearing a stream of colorful words that could make a sailor blush.
Now if you're wondering just what predicament Terrence has gotten us into again, let me tell you.
We ran out of gas.
And this was all because Terrence refused to stop and ask for directions, because he claimed that he could get us back home without them.
Pssht. Men.
"Well? What are we gonna now?" I asked, taking a look at my watch. It was nearly 8:30 and knowing my mom, she was probably huddled up on the couch besides the phone, waiting for my call, to tell her when I was coming home.
The sad thing was, I didn't know when I was coming home, if ever.
Okay, maybe I'm being a bit dramatic.
But it was late, I was tired, cold and most importantly- hungry.
What? One Big Mac, and a couple of fries is not a proper meal in my opinion.
I pulled out my phone, "Ooh, three bars!" I squealed, dialing in the number to the phone in the kitchen.
After exactly three rings, my mom picked up, sounding extremely tense on the other end.
"Hello?"
"Hey mom, its me," I said, as causally as possible, taking a few steps away from Terrence and Joey, so my mom wouldn't hear them curse each other to the death.
"Hayden, honey, I was just getting worried, when will you be home?"
I bit my lip, not knowing what to tell her, "uhm, in an hour?" I said, hoping she wouldn't protest.
There was complete silence on the opposite end of the phone for a few minutes, "Well, alright, I've just been paged, they need me at the hospital, so I'll leave the keys in their spot, call me as soon as you get home, okay?"
"Yes mom," I said, taking in a deep breath, before I hung up. I turned back around towards the car, and sighed.
"You, stupid excuse for a driver!" Joey yelled, wrestling with Terrence on the ground.
"Me? All you did was make googly eyes at your girlfriend!" Terrence spat back.
"Well, at least I have a girlfriend," Joey smirked.
Terrence narrowed his eyes at Joey and pushed him off, wrestling him down to the ground now.
I groaned internally, I did not have time for this, I needed to get back home and crawl under my sheets with a huge tub of cookie dough ice cream, and mope about how sucky this date was and how I was never gonna find love and gonna be single all my life and end up living with twelve cats and one litter box.
Dwelling on those wonderful thoughts I walked over to the two fighting children and pulled them apart holding them both by their ears, "Look boys-" I started, "It's been a long day, I'm tired, cranky and pretty darn hungry, so unless one of you has a snickers bar in your pockets, I suggest you move as fast as possible to get me home before I lose my shit, and eat your souls. Capche?"
