Charlotte's Pov
I paced around the room, still confined to a small circle. The containment seal around me draining me of my powers.
God, I hated when this happened.
Hayden was gone, and I couldn't feel anything but worry. I didn't know this demon, I didn't know how she worked, what she wanted.
And that was never a good thing when facing demons.
I ran my hands through my hair in frustration, it had been exactly 8 minutes since Hayden had left the room and I still hadn't figured a way out.
The mental clock in my head ticked on, only reminding me that every second Hayden was away from me was another second she was in danger.
Talk about pressure.
I slumped to the floor, bringing my knees to my chest, and resting my head on top of them. I always found my mind worked best in these kinds of positions, and despite living for nearly several thousand years, I still couldn't tell why.
"Think, Charlotte, think," I whispered to myself, using the human name I had become so accustomed to over the year I had spent with Hayden.
I glanced all around the room; your standard room, with white washed walls and teak wood flooring. Moving boxes with large handwriting sprawled on them littered the room. A few very close to me, but still out of reach of the circle.
I glanced down at the painted seal on the floor. There was very little magic in the world that could contain a force as great as Death, or Karma, but this was one of those rare times where the person I was going up against seemed to be more prepared than I was.
I frowned, why was I sent here in the first place? The rules of Karma rarely ever apply to demons. And moreover, why was I sent here without warning?
Someone at HQ is gonna pay big time when I get out of here.
"Wait a second," I said, remembering something, as I dug through my pockets, searching for the tiny purple vial Death had given me before we came here.
Fishing around in my jacket, I finally found it. Pulling out the tiny vial filled with a neon purple liquid.
Maybe the people at HQ did know what I would be facing after all.
Still, a proper warning would be nice.
"God," I sighed, looking up at the ceiling, "We need to have a serious talk about your staff once I get outta here."
I stared at the bright purple liquid, almost like it was poison. I always hated this stuff.
"Well, here goes nothing," I said, downing the contents of the vial in single gulp.
The taste was absolutely horrible, stinging my throat and burning my insides as it passed through my body. My fingers went numb and my hair lit up, pure fire coursing through my veins.
I was gonna regret this in the morning.
I knelt back down, touching the outline of the seal, getting as close to it as possible. I felt heat course through me even faster now, the skin on my hands gleaming a bright pink, I closed my eyes and focused my energy on the seal.
While I worked my magic, the seal worked it's own, draining my powers faster every second I was in it. I felt energy leave my body just as fast as it came, and I wasn't sure where it was going.
I closed my eyes and refocused, "Come on, Come on!" I yelled, releasing a large burst of energy, that passed through the seal, sending it through the entire room. The walls cracked, and like the domino effect, the cracks spread through the entire room, trailing all the way down to the floor.
