Chapter 12

Day 41

Sarah woke up with a little blue kitten on her chest. He was half under the blanket laying on his side sleeping with his head resting on her hand that was on her chest. She reached her other hand up and lightly rubbed behind his ear. He rolled into his tummy and opened his eyes. They had turned color overnight to a shocking glowy amber color. It was such a contrast against his blue little face. It became prominent and stood out. Sarah was amazed at such a drastic change in him. He was so beautiful. She pet his face and he melted into her hand.

Sarah smiled and said, "You're so beautiful, Azure." He climbed down to her neck and head butted her chin wanting cuddles. She cupped him in her hands and sat up cuddling him into her neck rubbing his face with her thumb. She kissed his head. She put him on the bed and went to the bathroom. She did her morning routine and got dressed in a fresh set of men's clothes. She was in no hurry and fed Azure the meat slurry.

Her remote hearing ring was still on and she heard…… "I want you to call back my eight couriers that are hunting Sarah in the Pixie and Elven Kingdoms."

A man said…… "As your chancellor, your majesty, may I ask why the change of heart and what of the bounty hunter?"

Jareth said, "Keep the bounty hunter on her for now until I say otherwise. He is supposed to be one of the best. I am just weary of the chase. Tell him to track her anywhere he may think is potential. She doesn't want to be with me or I could find her. I think she fears me and doesn't want me to rule over her. I wanted that once when she was a child but I'm not so sure of myself now. She is more able than I thought and I may have been underestimating her for all the wrong reasons."

The chancellor said, "That does sound like the fae way of dealing with humans, your majesty. She has no magic, she is a woman and she is fallible. Do you think she is getting assistance to hide?"

Jareth sighed and said, "I can't be sure, but she is good at this, better than I ever thought. She befriends people along her way that are steadfast and strong in loyalty to her. It's not just humans, but fae and elves too. It's hard to compete with that."

The chancellor said, "Seems you're giving her more credit than a human warrants. They are beneath us and even more beneath you than most fae."

Jareth said, "Your opinion is not asked for or wanted. Your job is to do as I say. If I had my way, she would be your queen."

The chancellor said, "Queen consort, if she lives long enough, after you beat and discipline her to conform."

Jareth said, "Remove yourself before I harshly discipline you." The ring went silent.

Sarah was astonished that the talk about her with Prince Alwin had actually started sinking in. She would have to wait and see what happens next because he was still hunting her. Sarah put on her belt and the knife in her boot. She had her money and put on her gloves and cloak. She had Azure in his pouch and went down to breakfast.

Sarah was sitting and eating her breakfast when her remote hearing ring came on again…..

A raspy voice said, "Where did that woman Ash go ? She had black hair and blue eyes." It was the bounty hunter, Braern.

A voice sounded like Dagnum, the dwarf, said, "I don't know she left two days ago, why?"

Braern said, "I want to find her. My employer has given me the freedom from my contract to pursue what direction I want. I want to find her to spend time with her and try to find out what power she had over me while I was here. She was a human but no human woman acts like her around a fae."
