The king sat next to her and said softly, "I'm so sorry, Sarah." He patted her head and she leaned into him putting her head on his shoulder. He looked at his wife and she sat on the other side of her and patted her. Merlara and Kieran knelt down in front of her.

Sarah cried and said, "I swear, I thought she broke his neck. I was so terrified that she killed him. He's just a baby. He didn't do anything wrong. He's my baby. I've been trying so hard to save him."

The Queen laid her head on Sarah 's shoulder as she cried into King Elwin's neck. The Prince and Princess had their hands on each of her knees. Sarah sniffed and sat up. She said, "You're going to need a rowboat to navigate the flood waters if I keep making your nice jacket wet."

King Elwin said, "What this old thing. You can just cry all over it." He made her giggle. He smiled at her.

Sarah sniffed and said, "You're all such lovely people, really. I'm honored and glad I got this chance to meet all of you, even your healer and mage. You are all so wonderfully kind. I'm proud to get this chance to get to know you. If I could pick a family for myself, it would be you all." They all hugged her gently because of Azure.

The Queen had tears in her eyes and said, "That is so sweet to say to us."

The King said a little choked up, "You can always come home when you are through seeing all you need to see, Sarah. You'll always belong here with us." He took his handkerchief and dabbed her eyes. Sarah looked in his eyes and saw his sincerity.

She hugged him and said, "I love you all." She hugged the queen then Kieran and finally Merlara she kissed on the cheek. She looked at the healer and mage over their shoulders and smiled at them. They looked a little misty eyed too.

The mage whispered in the old elf's ear, "It's her magic, the natural healing. It's honest, heartfelt love." The old elf nodded.

The healer said, "It's hard not to get caught in the net like a fish. But then who wouldn't want to be in there. She is a remarkable woman and makes you feel needed."

The mage said, "She really is."

A little later, Sarah was laying down on her side napping with her hand cradling Azure. Azure stirred and turned on his side holding her hand to himself snuggling into her fingers. Sarah pulled the blankets in closer. They slept for three hours.

During this time, the Goblin King arrived and was given a room on a different floor from Sarah. Sarah would have to face him at dinner. King Elwin hoped it would go ok for Sarah after everything today. She had been through enough.

Sarah woke up with her little kitten sound asleep in her hands. He looked so sweet and innocent. She rubbed on his belly and he started to stir. He looked at her with sleepy eyes. Sarah said, "How do you feel, my angel kitty?" The kitten purred and he put his paw on her lips. Sarah kissed his little foot.

She asked, "Are you hungry, my baby boy? Or maybe potty?" He turned over and stood up and stretched. She picked him up and put him in his sandbox. She made him some food and put it on the bed. He came and sat on her foot. She reached down and scratched him behind his ears and picked him up putting him on the bed by his dish. He ate his food.

Sarah said, "I'm so sorry about today. I never would have thought they would go after you to hurt me. You are such a good boy and didn't deserve to be hurt so cruelly. You are the best little boy ever and I love you so much." Sarah softly petted him while he ate. He was purring.
