"This is so boss!Oh, man!Wait'll you hear this!Wait'll you hear this!You won't believe it,It's unbelievable!"he said,he stopped and panted."Let me catch my breath.I ran all the way from my house."he said,"I ran all the wa-ay home,just to say I'm sor-ry..."all four of us began to sing jokingly."Come on you guys,listen to me.This is boss,come on."Vern said,but we kept singing just to annoy him."Okay,forget it.I don't have to tell you nothin'."he said."Alright hold on you guys,hold on."Chris stopped me,Gordie,and Teddy."What is it, man?"he asked Vern,"Okay.Great, you won't believe this. Sincerely."once again we began to sing."Screw you guys! Forget it."Vern said,"ok,ok,we'll stop.what is it Vern?"I asked.
I could hear the radio in the background playing Mr.Lee by The Bobbettes."Can you guys camp out tonight? I mean, if you tell your folks we're gonna tent out in my back field?"Vern asked,"Yeah, I think so. Except my dad's kind of on a mean streak you know, he's been drinkin' a lot lately."Chris said."I dunno Vern,my mom doesn't like when I hang out with you guys at night."i said,"You've got to guys.Sincerely,You won't believe this!"Vern exclaimed."Can you, Gordie?"he asked Gordie,"yeah,probably."Gordie replied."So, what are you pissin' and moanin' about, Verno?"Teddy asked,I was already bored so I began to fiddle with the bracelet I made.
"I knock."
"What?!You liar!You ain't got no pat hand!You didn't deal yourself no pat hand!"

"You guys wanna go see a dead body?"We all looked at Vern,"a dead body?"I asked.he nodded,he had everyone's attention now."Well, I was under the porch digging, you know..."he began to explain everything,we all understood what Vern meant right away:like I said before,at the beginning of the school year he had buried a quart jar of pennies underneath his house.He drew a treasure map so he could find them again,a week later his mom cleaned out his room and threw away the map. Vern had been trying to find those pennies for nine months.Nine months,can you believe that?He didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
