For a long time in the Pokémon fandom, the subject of Lucario and Aura has been a very interesting one. More so in the anime and movies, as they prove to be something far more unique than in the games. In the anime it allows you to bond with your Pokémon and even achieve supernatural feats, this is none so explained as the case in the Pokémon movie Lucario and the Mystery of Mew

This movie sparked a huge love for Lucario and the subject of Aura, mainly that the main character Ash Ketchum apparently can use it as well! This aura idea wouldn't come back until the Sinnoh anime where Ash meets a Riolu when they are facing against Hunter J. Once again, it shows that Ash can actually feel and use aura as he does it to bond with the Riolu. Sadly this idea wouldn't come back until....(sigh) Pokemon Journeys.
Well that's a bit of an over exaggeration. There's some good bits in Journeys, but I wouldn't lie if I said it was becoming more hated than the Black and White anime. However! If there's one thing I can give the anime credit for, it's finally giving Ash a god damn Riolu and bringing back the aura talk! Not only that, Riolu stays and grows to be a Lucario, then a freaking Mega Lucario! Currently he is the ace of Ash's team, even being the one to take down Cynthia's famous Garchomp.

But why am I talking about this? Why am I bothering you guys more than usual? WHY AM I STILL AL-sorry I lost it a bit. Well I wanted to just talk about this and the unique idea that fanfiction usually entails. That being Riolu as Ash's starting Pokémon. Now I know, something like this cannot happen in the show as Lucario and Aura wasn't even a concept in the Kanto era, but it's still a unique idea. With Aura being so linked to Lucario, and the anime building up Ash with aura capabilities as well, it's just a unique idea thinking of what Ash's journey could be like if he had this Pokémon and learn about his aura capabilities far sooner.
Perhaps I can show my own take on this in a sort of short story, if that's something you'd like to see.
