Chapter Twelve

Red

We're relaxing today...Everything doesn't go down with Kane for another two days since we got to Miami early. We already know exactly which church his uncles funeral is at.. We gone follow them to the grave yard from there.

"What's wrong with you?" I ask China as she looks out of the hotel room window with sad eyes.

"Just missing my mom and brother" China shrugs.

"Aren't you from Florida? We could go to whatever city you need us to go to, so you can see them while we're in the state" I try to cheer her up.

"We are in the city..." She tells me.

"Even better. You can go see them now" I tell her.

"I don't know if I'm ready to face my mom again. I mean the way she went about the whole situation really hurt me" She says with watery eyes.

It was only two years ago so I understand that it was recent. The pain is still fresh for her..

"You might as well just face her..Always face your fears" I reply, giving her advice and kissing her soft lips.

She nods.

"Okay, can you come with me?" She asks, looking up at me.

"Of course. I wasn't letting you go alone anyways" I tell her.

She gives me a small smile before going into the bathroom and I hear the shower running...

China

"To the left. The yellow house on the left hand side" I point, navigating Red to my moms house.

All of my traumatizing memories start to come back as we pull into the driveway of my moms house..

I haven't been here in two years and it all feels like it just happened yesterday.

"You okay?" Red asks bringing me out of my thoughts.

"I'm okay" I tell him just as my moms front door opens..

Chance walks out with no shirt on, showing a tattoo on his chest that he didn't have before I left. Wearing Basketball shorts and Nike slides...He's gotten so big... He's sixteen now and taller than me.

"Chance" I can't help but yell as I open the car door.

"China?" Chance looks around, Instantly recognizing the sound of my voice.

"China" Chance yells running over to me as I walk to the other side of the car and come into full view.

He hugs me tightly as I start to cry.

"I've missed you so much big sis. I been looking everywhere for you, You disappeared after mom kicked you out" Chance tells me causing me to look down feeling bad that he was looking for me.

We were so close before I left.

"I've missed you too Chance"

"I hate mama everyday for what she let happen to you. Now she tells me I'm out of control and I wonder why!" Chance says with dark eyes.

I just hug him again..

"Who's this?" Chance asks me as Red gets out of the car.

"My boyfriend Red. Red this is my brother Chance" I introduce them.

"Nice to meet you" Red holds his hand out for Chance to shake.

Chance stares at his hand for a second before shaking it.

"Mom in there?" I ask Chance.

"Yeah she in there. I'm about to walk to the candy lady house. Don't leave until I get back" Chance hugs me again.
