Chapter Thirty-five

Red

China and I are walking through the mall, pushing Dj in his stroller.

"Let's go in here" I tell her as we approach footlocker.

We walk into footlocker and I instantly spot a pair of Nikes

"Dj getting these" I tell China

"Red, he has enough shoes and kids feet grow fast, he can't even walk yet" China tells me.

"He can never have too many shoes. I'll get them in a bigger size so he can grow into them and wear them when he's walking" I tell her with a shrug.

I call the Footlocker employee over to tell him Dj's size.

"Can you get me these in a 4c and those, those too" I tell the employee while pointing at two more shoes that caught my eye.

"China" A male voice says.

I turn around and see some darkskin, dread head nigga walking up to China. He smiles at her showing the diamonds in his mouth.

"Mari" China squeals in excitement as she hugs him.

"You don't fuck with me no more, you never respond when I text you" He tells China.

"Don't do that, I've just been busy" China tells him.

"Busy doing what? Cheating in uno?" He says with a chuckle causing China to laugh.

The footlocker employee comes back out with Dj's shoes, taking them to the register for me.

I push Dj's stroller over to China and the dread head nigga.

"What's up" I speak making my presence known.

"Oh, Red this is my friend Jamari, Jamari this is my boyfriend Red" China says introducing us.

Oh this the nigga Skittles saw her out to eat with that time she left me..

I look him up and down and he does the same.

"Anyways, it was good seeing you Mari" China tells him.

"Text me back" He tells her before walking away to look at some shoes.

"What?" China asks me as I stare at her.

"Don't get fucked up" I warn her while walking to the register to pay for Dj's shoes.

I pay for the shoes then start to walk towards the exit with China and Dj

"Can somebody come help me" Jamari calls out getting my attention.

I look back at him as he lifts his hand, waving a footlocker employee over.

"You okay?" China asks me noticing the look on my face.

"I'm good" I tell her. Not wanting to make a scene in the mall with my son.

He has the lion tattoo on his hand...

"You have the same thing I do" I tell China while pushing her fork away from my food.

"It looks better on your plate" She tells me sticking her fork into my food again.

We're eating at the food court.

"Let me ask you something" I tell China while taking a sip of my soda.

"Yes?" She asks

"You know where that nigga stay? The one from footlocker?" I ask her while raising one of my eyebrows.
