Courage

I watch the man as he frowns and then cries. When he looks upon his sad bear, he cries out to it. He begins to shiver, as if cold.

I reach out and touch him. He reaches out to me as he weeps.

It is heartbreaking, but I move closer to him.

I ask if he owns the bear and he looks at me with tears in his eyes. His voice shakes as he says that he does. The man seems quite sad but the others in the shop smile at him. He tells me that this beautiful bear has been a bad friend, but it is time to let go of it.

The man struggles to stand and I wrap my arm around him as he prepares himself to make peace with his bear.
