the sound of my alarm going off woke me up. today was my first day of my senior year. like the last 3 years i had to start at a new school because my mama was always running from somebody.

I yawned and rubbed my eyes then took a deep breath. " one more year of this shit, then i can go " i said to myself while going to wake up my sisters, Adriana and Adrian.

after waking them i went and took a shower, had a moment to myself. i brushed my teeth and washed my face then went and put on my clothes.

I came downstairs to the twins sitting at the table eating cereal.

" make sure y'all hurry up, we gotta go " i said grabbing a bottle of water out the fridge. this was their second year in high school. i'm so proud of them.

I grabbed our book bags and went to my car and started it. they came out 3 minutes later.

" is the door locked ? " i asked. Adriana shook her head yea

i pulled out the driveway and made my way to our school. we had 15 minutes to get there, good thing we only lived a few minutes away.

when we got there we all went to the office for our schedules.

" Hey, how can i help you " the secretary asked

" Me and my sisters need our schedules, we weren't here for open night " I said.

" Can i get ya names ? " she asked

" Avantae, Adrian, and Adriana Brown " I replied watching her type away at the computer.

a few seconds later the printer started, " here you go, have a great first day " she said smiling.

We turned and walked out the office. " y'all need help finding y'all classes ? " i asked seeing if i was gone be late today. " we good " they said.

" alright see y'all at lunch " i said going to my first period.

When i walked in, there were kids everywhere, i took a seat in the back of the classroom. I just wanted to get this day over wit.

The rest of the students started piling in when the bell rung.

" all y'all sit down so i can take attendance " the teacher said.

" can i use the restroom when you done ms " this girl from a group next to me said.

" My name ain't ms , it's Ms. black and yes you can " the teacher replied then started calling off names.

After attendance she made us do ice breakers. I could tell this was gonna be a long day.

The bell had finally rung for lunch. I got up to ask my 5th period teacher for my locker number and combination.

I was making my way to my locker and bumped into this girl. I was too busy looking up and she was too busy looking down in her book that neither one of us seen each other.

" i'm so sorry " she said while hurriedly picking up her stuff.

" you all good um? " i said questionably while giving her the rest of the stuff she dropped.

" mazaryn, it's mazaryn " she replied fixing her glasses

" nice to meet you mazaryn, im Avantae " i said holding out my hand.
