JASPER

The moment that I opened my eyes the next day, I don't know why, but I was thinking about him. I didn't even notice that until I stepped my feet inside our university, he was still the only thought roaming in my head.

He occupied me. He occupied my thoughts, yet it feels so light to carry. Yet it feels like I still need to think about him more to complete a missing part of me.

Vince.

I don't understand myself, but the only thing I know is that, I haven't felt this before. Not in my nineteen years of existence. And it feels so good just by thinking about someone who offered me a hand.

One of the guards looked like he wanted to burst out in tears—oh, because he wanted to laugh at a kid who decided to push a bike instead of riding it. He wanted to laugh at me.

But I don't care. The idea of Vince's face in my head keeps all the negativities away from me.

I just wish I see him now here, although that seems next to impossible because the building of Architecture is three departments away from ours, pero hindi naman masamang mangarap. Rich people tend to do stupid stuff when boredom hit them, so...

And then, when I lowered my head, I saw the white cat. The one who was in this exact position on my first day at this university.

I played with his fur.

The cat meowed twice before rubbing his head in my palms.

Animals could not speak, but their eyes could communicate. Their actions, the way they treat people, reflect how they were treated by the society. And I'm glad that this cat seemed to be getting the very well treatment he could ever attain from humans. Because he never bit me. He was so careful of his actions, even though he's so clingy.

“Want some food to eat?” I asked. But he just looked at me. I waited for about a minute for his response, but I got nothing. “Hello? Girl? Ano na?”

The cat just stared at me. And then he smiled. He event bent his head, and then yawned right after. I don't think he wants some food. I think he was looking for a shelter right now.
