tyler was examining the ring on his finger. he was kicking his feet at the laundromat a few blocks from his house. his washing machine and dryer had broken down a few weeks ago, so josh would watch maddie for him while him and his mom ran over to the laundromat.

"you look.. so, happy, tyler." tyler's mom was smiling at him.

"I wanna marry him so badly mom."

"I know you do sweetie."

"we'll be a family. we'll have kids. we'll be happy."

"just like your nana and my dad."

tyler smiled.

"i'm so sad for you that you never got to meet your papa, he was just like your nan."

"what was he like mom?"

tyler's mom sat beside him.

"strong, like your nan.he loved everything so much. you're a lot like him. emotional. passionate. he made music too."

tyler set his head on his mom's shoulder.

"you would've loved him."

"I would have mom."

"he would've loved you."

"what ever happened to him?"

"he.. died of cancer a few months before you were born."

"is, is it possible to miss someone you never met?"

tyler's mom nodded.

"but i know. he was so excited to meet you, and he loves you, tyler."

tyler smiled.

"I wanna be just like you. and i want to be just like nana. i want a relationship like nana and papa."

"I know you and josh will get that, tyler."

tyler's mom kissed tyler's forehead and then went back over to the laundry.
