DECEMBER 19
My office is high up with a big window looking out at New York, and I love it. I can code in peace with the busting streets of New York underneath me. It's a dream come true.
I hear a group of people walking past my office, probably for a meeting. I'm not sure if they're going to one or just leaving one though. Luckily, as coding is all I have to do, my meetings are spread far and thin except for progress reports.
I sigh; my brain can't handle the lines and lines of code anymore. My eyes gaze out the window for a break, then flit down to my phone screen lighting up.

Okay we all agreed pancakes on christmas eve
y/n
Sounds good
Is it still cool if i stay in the guest room?
Nick
We can put a mattress in your actual room
Or we can all huddle in my room every night like a sleepover
y/n
George would never go for that
Nick
He'll live
I take a deep breath. I haven't been able to sleep since last Friday just at the fact that a week from then I'd be with them again.
I remember the last night I was in that house; the fight between Clay and I.
It's only been a few weeks in New York, but I've found a routine that doesn't involve the thought of him. I've lived my life on what I've been wanting to do, but now I'm going to have to see him again. I can't hide from him in his own house

I have to ask if he's still mad
Nick
He hasn't really talked about it that much
I think he's just being stubborn
y/n
Oh god.. should i just get a hotel?
Nick
Absolutely not. He's a grown man... he'll have to get over it.
I smile at the text just as a knock sounds on my office door. I glance up to see Ben leaning on the doorframe. "What are you so smiley at?" he asks.
I set my phone down. "Christmas, of course."
He rolls his eyes. "Should've known."
"You really should've." I nod and lean back into my swivel chair. "What brings you here today?"
Ben swings by the office at least once a week to check on things for the Start-Up. Sometimes he's in a rush and has to leave quickly, but sometimes he stops by my office.
"Want to get lunch?" he asks.
I check the clock; I hadn't even realized how long I'd been coding before. "Yeah, just let me grab my coat."
