The short doctor missed the shot, clearly his services wouldn't help in the battlefield. His "boss" took the gun from the doctor's hands and aimed it toward my head.

"Wait. Sir, I believe we can use her," Zola said, "She knows how to create the serum."

I grew worried, knowing they'd hurt Bucky to get me to help them. How could I let this happen? I shouldn't have been so sure I could save James. Now he has no choice but to feel the burden of the serum. What if I do something wrong? They'll hurt him.

"Don't do what they say, Care," James muttered, "I'm not worth that."

"I'll find a way out of here Buck, I promise," I said.

The boss came up to me, he looked me in the eyes and I knew he didn't want to kill me. He needed me.

"Johann Schmidt," he said, "We'll be spending a lot of time together so I think you should know my name."

"I couldn't give less of a fuck, if I wanted to," I spat at him. He laughed at me and electrocuted Bucky.

"I'd watch my tongue if I were you. Unless you want me to fry your little friend here."

I felt drained, completely useless. I was telling the truth to Bucky though. I was going to find a way out, no matter what happened.

Over the next couple weeks I was Schmidt and Zola's puppet, they pulled the strings while Bucky was hanging over my head. I did what they asked but most of the time I was tied up, it was a painful experience. Being forced to work against my country while Bucky was being drained of life, mentally and physically. That is until the sirens went off.

I looked over at Bucky, he was unconscious. We were both tied up and exhausted, I heard an explosion and Bucky slowly opened his eyes, "Cara? What's going on?"

"I don't know, probably nothing good," I said.

Moments later Steve arrived, my brother, here. I didn't know if it was real but he gave me hope.

"Oh my..." He started, beginning to take off our binds.

Steve threw me over his shoulder and wrapped his arm around Bucky, holding him up until Bucky could walk on his own. We ran to the nearest exit however when another bomb exploded we were left with a gap between us and our only way out. There was a skinny beam, James started walking across it and my body was filled with worry. As soon as he made it over the beam fell to its fiery doom, I looked over to Steve.

"Go! Get out of here!" Steve yelled to Bucky.

"No, not without you!" Bucky replied.

"Jump Steve, you'll make it," I said to him.

"Cara, what about you?" he replied.

"I'll be right behind you,"

Steve nodded and bent the railing, he backed up and jumped across the flames, "Okay Cara. Come on!"

I backed up just like he did but as soon as I jumped, arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me back to the platform. It was Schmidt.

"She's not going anywhere!" he said to Steve and James, "Except down there."

He threw me off the platform and I thought this was it, I was going to die. That is until I grabbed onto the first level railing and swung myself up to that platform.

There waiting for me were Schmidts soldiers, one of them covered my mouth and dragged me behind the Hydra facility. They knocked me out, tossed me into a car, and drove off.
