I was going home. After two years of living in Paris and learning French, I was going home to Japan. To my brother, to my family, and to tennis. To my life and to my family. I can't wait to go see them. And Eiji. He was my favorite. I kinda forgot my other sibling's names. I had three older brothers, including Eiji, and then two older sisters. All of them have moved out except for Eiji, so I don't see them very much.
I climbed onto the train and then sat down and relaxed with my bags at my side and feet. I sighed and stared out the window. It would take me fourty hours to get to Tokyo by train, but it was the only option I had 'cause all the plane tickets were out for Tokyo.
I sighed and then plugged in my airbuds and started playing my music quietly until I fell asleep.
The next time I woke up, there was a voice coming in over the speakers.
"All passengers for Tokyo, Japan. I repeat, all passengers for Tokyo, Japan. Please disembark," the driver said. I quickly grabbed my bags and then jumped off the train. My eyes widened as I looked around. Tokyo was a big place. And super busy. I grabbed a taxi and then paid to have him drive me to Seishun Gakuen Academy. Eiji didn't know I was coming back, so this would be a surprise. I took out my airbuds and slipped everything back into my bags right before the taxi stopped at the entrance arch of Seigaku and let me out.
I grabbed my stuff happily and then said a quick thank you, tipped the driver, and then ran off to find Eiji.
I heard the sound of tennis balls and then moved in that direction and caught sight of a bunch of teens playing tennis. There were a few of them that were just picking up balls on the sideline, a first year playing against an older team mate, and then I saw a flash of bright red hair like my own. Eiji. I dropped my bags outside the fence and then pushed open the gate and ran inside, leaving my tennis equipment at the gate.
I then quietly ran up to him and jumped on his back, nearly knocking him over.
"Oi?!" Eiji shouted in surprise. I tugged on his hair lightly and he turned around, looking up at me. "Etsuko!" He dropped my off of his back and then grabbed me and hugged me tightly.
"Eiji has a girlfriend?" Inui asked. I recognized all of them except for the first year.
"Inui," I started. "I'm not his girlfriend. If you really want to know, you can either ask me, Eiji or Oishi."
"Who is she?" the first year spoke up, tugging his cap down lower over his eyes.
"Chibi!" Eiji shouted. "This is my little sister Y/n! She was in Paris for two years!"
"Since I was five," I replied proudly. "And I'm even better than Eiji."
"But you're only ten, right?" Momo asked. I punched him in the shoulder.
"No! I'm thirteen. Eiji's only a year older than me!" I shouted at him. "And I am not ten! Also, we were friends two years ago!"
"You look so young," Momo mused.
"I know," I said plainly. "And I like looking young. My opponents always underestimate me. I haven't played tennis in abour two years, anyone interested in a match?"
"I will!" Momo shouted immediately, not giving anyone else a chance to respond.
"See you on court," I said, flashing him a grin.
"But, Etsuko," Eiji complained. "I wanted to play."
"Later, Eiji. Right now I want to play a match. And I'll destroy Momoshiro while I'm at it. Make him regret calling me ten," I said with a wicked grin at him. Eiji nodded with a bright smile back at me.
"Alright, Eiji, you're in the chair. Momoshiro, pick a side," I said as I stretched thoroughly and then stood up and grabbed my racket. I frowned at the strings. They were all too loose.
"Oi, Eiji," I called. "Do you have an extra racket?"
"Hai!" Eiji shouted, tossing me his gray racket.
I took my side of the court after getting used to Eiji's racket. Eiji climbed up into the umpire's chair and then called the match.
"One set match! Etsuko and Momoshiro!" Eiji shouted. "Service court Etsuko!"
I flashed a wicked grin at Momo before throwing the ball up and slamming it with my racket. I smirked at him as it spun on the baseline and then bounced up and got stuck in the wired fence.
"Get ready to lose, Momo," I grinned. I raised my racket again and repeated the move, this time, Momo actually caught on and returned the ball to the other side of the court. I leaped after it and did a fun trick shot Eiji had taught me when I was younger. I hit the ball between my legs with a smirk.
"30-love!"
I returned every ball Momo shot at me. Even his dunks. I admit those were slightly harder to do because of the strength and power behind the hits, but I returned them all nonetheless.
"5-1! Etsuka in the lead!" Eiji shouted. I scored the next five points and then grinned at Momo as I walked up to the net and stuck my hand out.
"That was fun," I said. "Let's play again somtime."
"Next time I'm going to win," Momo promised me.
"Oi? We'll see about that, Momo," I said with a laugh as I shook his hand.
"Eiji!" I called, waving my hands in the air. "Who's Chibi?"
"Oi?" Eiji said as he moved to stand next to me. "Chibi, be nice and introduce yourself to her."
The smaller blackish green haired boy scowled and then tipped his hat at me. "Echizen Ryoma," he said. "And you?"
"Kikumaru Etsuko," I replied. "Pleased to meet you, regular."
He blinked and then nodded his head again. He then walked away and returned with a grape Ponta.
"Eiji, can we go home now, please?" I asked, looking up at him.
"Captain?" Eiji asked. Tezuka just looked at us both without saying anything.
"Please, Tezuka-san?" I asked. "You don't gotta be strict with me. We both know it."
"Alright. Eiji, I expect to see you here earlier than everyone else tomorrow. Etsuko, you're welcome to join the boy's tennis club if that's what you wish," Tezuka said.
"Hai!" I shouted. "Thank you, Tezuka-san!" I quickly hugged him and then grabbed my bags and raced Eiji home.
I opened the door and saw my mom arguing on the phone and my dad feeding Eiji's parrot and dog.
"Anybody home?" I called as I raised an eyebrow. I flinched as my mom dropped her phone onto the counter and my dad spilled half the food in shock of hearing my voice. And then they both came rushing towards me, enveloping me in a large hug. Eiji jumped on top of them and messed up my hair. I frowned at him before laughing. I smiled. I was with my parents and my brother. I was home at last.
