We finished laughing at Tezuka and then went back to our classes. After school I beat Eiji to the courts and was already stretched and conditioned when he got out there.
"Oi!" I shouted. "Eiji! Nisan!" I waved my racket at him. I had gotten it fixed yesterday in the middle of the night when everyone was sleeping.
"Coming, Etsu!" Eiji shouted as he came running at me. I threw him his racket and he caught it with a small frown.
"Why?" he asked.
"I promised Momo a match between us. To see who was stronger. Besides, I get money from him if I win, and we need to play a match. We haven't played in two years, Eiji," I explained.
"Alright!" Eiji shouted. "Let's do this! I'm gonna win!"
"Now, now, Eiji, don't be so sure. The match hasn't even started," I chided, clicking my tongue at him. He immediately pouted and looked like a sad puppy. I patted his head. "But there's no saying who'll win after two years." He perked up again and grinned.
"Game on," I smirked, holding my hand out.
"Game on," Eiji grinned, shaking my hand.
"Oi!" I shouted as the regulars came to the court. They all turned to me along with every member of the Seigaku club. "Momo, you're umpire!"
"Why me?!" Momo shouted from across the field.
"This was your idea!" I retorted. "Now do it! I'm sure Inui would love for you to try one of his drinks!" As if on cue, Inui held up a cup full of vile looking substances. I gagged in mu mouth and Eiji tried to run away before I grabbed his ear and pulled him back on court.
"C'mon, Eiji," I said, flashing a grin at him. "Let's see who's stronger after two years."
Eiji and I moved to the net to spin the racket.
"Rough," I called. It was smooth. Eiji took the ball and then went to his side.
"Hey, Eiji, do you know how play singles?" Momo called from the umpire chair.
"Hai!" Eiji shouted back.
"One set match, Eiji to serve!" Momo shouted.Tezuka's P.O.V
I watched in silence as the match started, Eiji hitting a hard serve and Etsuko easily returning it with both speed and power behind the ball.
"It's an interesting match, isn't it, Captain?" Reporter Inuoe's voice asked. His assistant Shiba appeared next to him with her camera. I nodded in response.
"There haven't been two acrobotic tennis players at Seigaku in a while, have there? I can't wait to see how this turns out. No matter who wins or loses, it'll be a great match to watch," Inoue said. "Shiba, take some pictures for me."
I stared off in the middle of nowhere, my mind going straight to a specific girl.
"I'm! Not! Going! To! Lose!" Etsuko's voice shouted, shaking me from my trance as I turned my attention on her. Her flaming red hair blew behind her as she twisted in the air and hit an ace return.Kaido's P.O.V
I admit, the match was fascinating. There haven't been two acrobotic players on the same court from Seigaku in a while. I was used to the way Eiji moved, but the way Etsuko moves. It was like watching a hypnotical dance. I looked around me from the corner of my eyes and saw Tezuka staring at the court in a slight daze. I guess I'm not the only one who feels like this. It seems I have some competition. And against the captain no less.
Etsuko's P.O.V
I slammed the ball hard over to Eiji's side. I wonder if he still has to work on his stamina problem and that bad habit of his, tilting the racket the opposite direction he would go. I don't know. I can use that to my advantage though if he hasn't fixed them or doesn't know about his bad habit.
I leaped into the air as he hit a lob, slicing the ball towards the ground and causing it to bounce back up and bury itself in the metal fence.
"5-4! Etsuko leads!" Momo shouted form the umpire chair. I grinned at Eiji.
"Oi, Eiji, have you fixed your little stamina problem?" I smirked. He scowled at me and then narrowed his eyes as he scanned for a weakness. He wouldn't find a weakness. I hide them too well. I glanced over at the dugout area, (I don't know what to call it) and saw Tezuka and Kaido staring at me. They both looked away as soon as I turned my head in that direction. I guess I've got myself a few fans.
"No way! The ten year old's beating a regular!" a club member shouted. I think Momo told me his name was Arai and that he was a bully to anyone younger than him. He loved to act in charge and supreme like he was the king of everyone and everything.
"I'm! Not! Ten!" I shouted, slamming the ball with my racket as hard as I could, causing it to drill a small hole in the ground and fly through the fence. I simmered with rage until Eiji walked up to me and hugged me tightly.
"Oi, sorry everyone's been calling you a ten year old. If I could change it I would. Nobody gets to hurt my li'l sister," Eiji murmured into my ear. He pulled away with a broad smile. "Why don't you challenge Arai to a game? I'm sure he thinks he can beat you even though you beat me, a regular." I smirked at the idea and then turned away and faced Arai.
"Oi! Spoiled brat!" I shouted at Arai. He turned to me. "You responded, good. I challege you to a one set match! If I win, you stop picking on other kids and people. Including the regulars and Eiji! If you win, I'll tell you my weaknesses!"
Eiji looked over at me as soon as I said the last part and I winked at him and he frowned.
"Deal!" Arai shouted, holding his hand out.
I shook my head at him. "No thanks. I don't need to touch pigs."
"Whoa, Eiji, your li'l sis is a bit of a devil," I heard Oishi comment.
"A devil with good hearing, Oishi!" I shouted at him, causing him to blush and his ears to turn red, I laughed and he relaxed a little bit.
"Momo, start the match. Brat, you're serve," I said. And then he served one of the easiest serves I've ever seen. I've met kids who can do better than him.
I returned it to the far right side of his section and he missed. I played like this for a few more minutes before getting bored and finishing it up in half a minute.
"6-love! Etsuko wins!" Momo shouted, cheering for me.
"Hai. Thanks, Momo," I said with a nod at him. He turned bright red. "What is it with boys turning red when I show them a tiny sign of affection?" I mused aloud.
"I guess the Kikumaru's have a streak of hot kids in their family," Eiji answered with a grin. I smirked back at him.
"That you're right on," I said. "Oh, and Arai, if I do catch you breaking your oath, there'll be-" Eiji cut me off by covering my mouth with his hand. I bit his hand and then scowled at him as he pouted and held his hand.
"Fine. Let's reword that. Arai, if I catch you beating someone up, I'll beat you up instead," I glowered.
"Dismissed," Tezuka called. I threw my stuff in my bag and then followed Eiji around.
"Oi, Etsuko, I thought you'd be going home," Eiji said, shocked.
"I'm following you. I don't know my way around Japan yet," I shrugged.
"Alright. Momo, Chibi!" Eiji called, pulling me forwards with him as he ran to catch up to the two boys. "We've got a guest tagging along!"
"Hai. Where are we going?"
"You never told her where you're going today, Eiji?!" Momo said, shocked.
"No. She was supposed to go home."
"You mind not talking about me like I'm not here," I scowled. Momo took a small step away from me.
"Hai, Etsu. Guess where we're going! We're going to . . . drumroll please . . . a themepark!" Eiji shouted. I tilted my head.
"A themepark?"
"Don't tell me you've never taken her to one before, Eiji," Momo shouted in shock again. Seems the more shocked he is, the louder he gets.
"Let's move past that!" Eiji shouted.
"Mada mada dane," Ryoma muttered. I grinned at his catchphrase.
I joined in on the argument, trying to get them to explain what a themepark was.
"Not now, Etsuko!" Momo shouted at me.
My eyes widened a little bit in both hurt and shock. I dropped my bags at Eiji's feet and then ran off. Momo had always been so nice to me. He was always there for me when EIji wasn't available. He might not fully remember it, but I remember it like it was yesterday.
