A/N~Okay so I lied. It's the next part that's going to be emotional. This one is mainly just flashbacks to kind of show the whole connection between Elyse and specifically Nancy. In the next part there will be some for Robin and Steve. Hope you enjoy! Wordcount~1847

As Elyse's heart races, she grabs sheets of paper and a pen. If this ends bad, she needs to make sure everyone knows why. As she's writing her letters, one for Nancy, Steve, Will, Mike, El. Robin. She has memories of all of them, flooding through her head, overlapping. From the first day she walked into kindergarten meeting Nancy. To telling her how she felt. To the first day of sophomore year, seeing Robin in Mrs. Click's class. To every good memory she had made with Steve this last year. Tears welling in her eyes, wondering if that's the last she'll have of all of them.

{Flashback to August 29th, 1982.}

The anxiety was flooding through Elyse. Is this really a good idea? To confess to her best friend that she likes her, in a very non-platonic way. It's now or never. Nancy took it well when she came out to her, so she's obviously not homophobic like the majority of Hawkins. But, she doesn't want to lose her best friend. Elyse gets pulled from her thoughts as Nancy waves a hand in front of her face. "Helloooo? Earth to Elyse." Nancy said, chuckling as Elyse snapped out of her thoughts. "Hm, what?" Elyse said, realizing she must have been zoned out for at least five minutes. "Everything okay? You, like, went somewhere." Nancy said, circling her hand, laughing a little. Elyse shared the laugh.

"But, like seriously, is everything okay? You've been like, off the past couple weeks. Did your dad do something?" Nancy asked, knowing how he can get when he's angry. "Umm, no, he didn't do anything. I just- there's something that I want to tell you, but you'll probably hate me." Elyse murmured out, the second part barely above a whisper. Nancy tilted her head to the side, furrowing her eyebrows. "Is it really that bad?" She asked, Elyse answering with a slow, but questioning nod. "Just tell me. I promise I won't get mad." Nancy said, Elyse hesitated for a moment, before sinking backwards into the bed. Nancy held out her pinky. "I pinky promise, I won't be mad or hater you, no matter what it is." Elyse slowly reached her pinky to link with Nancy's. She took a deep breath. And the. Let it spill.

"The reason I've been so weird is because I've kind of realized that I have feelings for you. And not platonic, strictly friends feelings. I mean, big, romantic, feelings." Elyse bursts in one breath. Nancy just stays still for a moment, opening her mouth to speak but getting stopped by Elyse. "No. Don't say anything. You hate me now. I'm just going to leave." Elyse said, frantically standing walking away. Before she can get far, Nancy stands up, simultaneously grabbing her wrist, pulling her back to stand in front of Nancy.

Elyse freezes, their faces just inches apart. Nancy smiles for a moment, before putting her hands around Elyse's waist, pulling her in. Elyse's breath hitched before her lips make contact with Nancy's. They stay like that for a moment, neither one of them wanting the moment to end. Nancy pulls away first, Elyse involuntarily chasing her lips. "Holy shit." Nancy says under her breath. "What?" Elyse asks, tilting her head. "I've been wanting to that for so long. I just- you kind of got a distant so I thought you like picked up that I had a crush on you....  clearly I was very wrong." She says with a small laugh, leaning her forehead onto Elyse's. Elyse drags her arms over Nancy's shoulders, pulling her closer. Both of them just enjoying the moment.

After a few moments, Elyse notices the time. "Shit. I have to go home otherwise my dad is going to actually kill me." She says, frantically grabbing her bag from the floor. She gets interrupted by a hand on her shoulder. She looks up to see Nancy, as she stands upright, placing a gentle kiss on her lips. "I'll see you tomorrow." She says, opening the door, rushing down the stairs and out the front door. Nancy follows behind, standing in the driveway. Watching as Elyse walks down the street. Her heart practically beating out of her chest. "Holy shit." She says under her breath, not believing this just happened.
