The group sat around the table, yelling, arguing, dice rolling. As the dice rolled out of the one boy's hand, the girl sitting at the head of the table spoke. "What's your action?" She asked, the rest of the teens shouting different things. "Fireball! Shield! No, fireball dipshit!" They all yelled over each other. "Fireball!" The boy said, rolling the dice, shouts erupting." THAT'S A 14! Your fireball hits the demogorgon, causing a screech to erupt. One final yelp and....and....and...." The girl exaggerates, slamming her hands on the table. "Death." Screams erupt from the group. The hellfire club was once again victorious on a D&D campaign.

As everyone else cleaned up, the girl who was at the head of the table went up the stairs of the basement. The boy who rolled the winning move, yelled after her. "Elyse? Where are you going?" He yelled after his sister, she turned and rolled her eyes. "I'm going to Charlotte's. I'll see you tomorrow." She said, going up the stairs. As she opened the door, walking into the kitchen, her parents both talking. "Hey mom. Hey dad." She said walking up to both of them. "Hey Elyse. How'd the campaign go?" Her dad, Mike Wheeler, asked. "You couldn't tell by the screaming? It was good. We stopped the demogorgon." Her mother, Eleven, flinched at the mention of the monster. She tried not to think about all of that stuff. She hated thinking back to all the pain they went through when they were simply kids.

"Uh, where are you going?" Her mother asked, as Elyse was walking towards the front door. "Down the street to Charlotte's. I can still go right?" Though Elyse was a junior in high school, her parents were still a little controlling of where she went and how late. "Fine. But, be home by 12. You have your finals tomorrow, right?" Elyse shook her head. "Nope. I'm exempt from my finals." It was true. Elyse was one of the smartest kids at Hawkins High School. She had a 4.0 gpa, in all AP courses. "Alright. Then I guess you can stay later. Just be careful walking home, okay?" While Hawkins had been a relatively safe town after the problems in the 80's, El was still on edge about it, especially with her daughter. "Alright mom. Bye." Elyse said, giving a small wave to her parents, then walking out the door.

Two girls and a boy, around 17 years old, sat around a small fire pit. Beer cans surrounding all of them. "So, when is El getting here?" The one girl spoke, as she took a sip from her beer can. Just then, a voice called. "How dare you guys start the party without me. I'm so hurt." She said with a sarcastic laugh. As El approached the group, the one girl, Lilliana, who goes by Lil, walked up to her, handing her a beer. "Well then, it looks like you'll just have to catch up then, won't you?" She said, a small laugh leaving her lips. "I guess I will." Elyse said, grabbing the can. She walked over to sit next to the other girl, Charlotte.

She grabbed a small knife, ready to slice into the can. She got interrupted by the sliding door opening. The boy, Daniel, seemed a little worried. Lil rolled her eyes. He had nothing to worry about, he wasn't even drinking. "Don't worry. Hey mom." Charlotte said, as her mom, Nancy, walked over. She grabbed a beer as well. "Ready?" Elyse said, getting ready to shotgun the can of beer. It was a fun 'tradition' of sorts for Elyse and Nancy. Nancy very much took on the role of the fun aunt. And she would be hypocrite if she was against underage drinking considering she did, all the time. Especially when she was their age.

They both readied their beer cans, Lil counting them down. "3! 2! 1!" She yelled, Nancy and Elyse both shotgunning the beers. And a short 4 seconds later, Elyse pulled the cab from her lips. Nancy's still on her mouth. "YES! Finally!" Elyse said, throwing her arms up in triumph. As Nancy pulled the can from her mouth, she said, "Damn it!" They had a bet going. It was really Elyse's idea, but Nancy said yes, purely because she didn't think it would actually happen. "Uh, why is she so happy?" Daniel whispered to Charlotte. "They had a bet going. If Elyse could shotgun an entire beer faster than my mom, before graduating high school, she gets $100. My mom didn't think it would actually happen. To be fair, none of us did." As Nancy walked back into the house, a faint sound of a car pulling into the driveway caught Elyse and Charlotte's attention. "Is that her?" Elyse asked, Charlotte shrugging her shoulders. "I don't think so. She isn't supposed to be back til next month." As she said that, the gate to the backyard opened with a loud creak. And then the shadowy figure was visible. "Oh my god! Mom?!" Charlotte said, running up to her other mother, Robin.
