"Hey, Captain! Three! You guys in a cell too?", Four exclaimed from her room. Three sighed.
"Yep, we all got captured, and who knows what our fate will bring us tomorrow.", she yelled, sitting on the window edge of her cell. There was another room between Four and herself, so she had to yell to get her point across. As for the view that she looked at, just dirt and rubble. Useless window.
"What?! OH COD NO! OH, NO ARE WE GONNA DIE?! Oh, great zap fish, you're ruining my attitude THREE!", she cried out. Three fidgeted with her fingers. This wasn't the best situation, and she hated small spaces. But something bothered her. Captain was quiet. Like, really quiet. Ever since that traitorous octoling came over and talked to the Captain, she's just been silent and didn't respond to anything or anyone. Three hopped down from her spot and walked over the wall. She put her hand on the wall and sighed.
"Hey, Cap'? Are you... alright?", she asked.
"I'm getting worried about our current state of...", she paused. Were her ears alright? Did she hear...crying? Oh carp, it was the sweetest cry she had ever heard. But it was also so heart wrenching, that it immediately pulled her down. It was so soft and quiet, and it was very hard to listen to. Was the captain, the one inkling that she had looked up to for a long time, the one who was so serious about everything, the one that didn't even smile when Four told a joke, the one who had saved the world countless times! Was she, crying?
"C-captain? Are you...crying?", she asked, stuttering. The captain heard the message loud and clear. She put a hand over her mouth. Her vision was cloudy and her thoughts were no different.
"N-no...", she replied, very very quietly. But Three heard it and her heart sank. The captain was lying to her. Straight to the face. The captain had always been so brutally honest about everything. And if you did ask her a question that she didn't like, she would reply, "Well, wouldn't you like to know.", in her stern, captain voice. But she knew that right now, the captain was in no mood to talk. And that was fine, except for the fact that they needed a plan before they get be-headed or something. But nothing came to mind. Suddenly, a loud crash came from the cell next door. Somebody laughed.
"HAHA! Stupid octos forgot to get rid of my bombs! Idiots! Whoa, captain? Yo, hold up! That's not looking so good. HEY, THREE, I'm BOMBING THE WALL", someone exclaimed. Three was not surprised. Four always had a way with explosives for some reason...Boom! Another crash and the wall busted open. Three coughed and opened her eyes. Four was frowning and looked anxious.
"What's all this about?", Three exclaimed, frowning, slowly getting worried about what was happening with Cap'.
"Uh, well, I blew up some walls, an alarm is going off, and I need help with the captain. Something is defiantly wrong with her.", Four said quickly, glancing at her. Three had only just realized the alarms blaring her ears off. She stepped into the other room and her heart sank. Oh something was wrong with the captain alright. She was standing up, and her legs were a tad wobbly. A sticky blue substance was sticking to her fingers and a blue hue started to spread on her face. She was crying out of her right eye, and the captain frowned and looked away. It was horrifying really.
"Whoa, I see what you mean.", she said taking a step back.
" No, guys, it's fine, it's nothing to worry about really.", The Captain exclaimed, still clutching to her hand. But obviously, it wasn't fine because shortly after she yelped out a cry of agony.
"Why? Why did it have to burn of all things?", she muttered to herself. Three was getting worried. Four had set off the alarms, which meant that the octarians were coming. They were still locked in, and it seemed like Four didn't have any more bombs. The captain was in no shape to tell them what to do, and she was slowly turning bluer and bluer. But out of the little luck, they had left, a mysterious figure ran into the cell hall and came to a halt at their little prison. They looked at the cell with the strange creature in it, and then looked at the suffering trio. They nodded and gestured them to stay put. Four and Three looked at each other in confusion. Who was this mysterious being? Why were they wearing a cloak and a mask? WHY THE SHELL WERE THEY PICKING THE LOCK FOR THE WILD ANIMAL?! They looked at the lock on the bars and grabbed a lock pick set. The door swung wide open. But the strange creature only smiled at the mysterious figure and nuzzled their side. But Four and Three hoped they could get the same treatment. (The freeing, not the nuzzling.) They needed all the help they could get, and if that meant taking their chances by following some strange someone in a cloak, well then that's what they were gonna do. The mysterious figure looked back at them and picked their lock. The trio easily made the decision to follow them. They nodded at the figure, gesturing that they agreed to follow them, and lent their captain some support. They all started running and soon got a real look at the situation they were in. They were apparently all locked up underground in a sunken police station. They could hear octarians yelling and shouting as they all gathered at the front of the building, but luckily, it had a back entrance/exit. They had gotten to the surface and the figure looked around. They took off their hood and their mask and revealed a quite interesting look. She had a face, just like any other inkling or octoling, but she had this...fur. All over her head! Her fur was poofy and she had a curious smile. Three and Four stared in awe. What kind of...thing was that? But before they could ask questions, the girl pulled out a notebook and a pen and started to write.
"Wow! That was exhilarating! Wasn't it? Thanks, for getting you all in one place BTW. Really saved me some time! Ah! Dang it, intros! My name is...well, it might be strange to you. I'm Professor Lily Hendricks. And this is Lupa, my pet wolf. A bit exotic, but I couldn't help seeing a tiny pup in danger and not help her! She follows me where ever I go, but! Right now we gotta get out of here and into my lab! Follow me, and don't worry, I don't bite!", she exclaimed, finally putting her notebook away and putting her hood back on as well as her mask.
"Well, doesn't look like we have a choice.", Four muttered, as they followed the strange being to whatever strange things she had in store for them.
