The figure ran very quickly, and so did her...what did she call it? A wolf? Anyway, Three and Four were having trouble keeping up. After all, Three was helping the Captain get along. She started to notice small things slowly happening to the captain. She started to get limper and was getting cold, even though the ooze burned. She kept mumbling things to herself, stuff that Three couldn't make out.
"Whew, can we take a small break?", Three asked, slowing down. Lily unveiled her poofy fur and olive-toned skin. She bit her lip and ran some calculations in her mind.
"Uh...yeah! We have some time! But only SOME time", she replied, whistling for Lupa to stop. She studied the captain, while Lupa decided to take a quick nap.
"How's she holding up?", she asked, holding a hand to her chin. Three sat her captain down and frowned.
"I don't know, but she's getting cold and limp. She's been muttering things under her breath too.", she replied. Four bit her lip.
" That's not good. Wait, you said you were a professor right? Maybe you know what's going on?", Four exclaimed. Lily shook her head.
" I am a professor, but I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe my friend knows...aw man, we should get going.", she replied, shuffling her feet. Three nodded and stood up. She held out her hand for Cap'. The captain opened her eyes and nodded her head. She took her hand and stood up.
"Good, okay, don't worry, we're almost there!", Lily exclaimed, picking up her pace. Lupa woke up and followed. They all ran for a little while longer, and then they all came up to a large apartment.
"Here we are! Come on!", Lily cried. They all went into the building and stopped at a door. Lily grabbed a key from her cloak and unlocked it. The door opened and revealed a staircase leading into a basement. They all traveled down the dark stairs and stopped once again for Lily to turn on a light switch. Four and Three gasped. The whole basement was white and clean, with lab equipment everywhere! Test tubes, testing chambers, and a desk with a computer were all packed inside the large basement.
"Wow, you are a professor!", Four exclaimed. Lily gestured to a space in the corner with a bed and a bean bag. There was a soft carpet on the floor and a small house plant.
"You can set her down here.", she said pointing to the bean bag. Three nodded and walked over to the corner with her captain and set her down.
"That's a lot better than the hard ground.", the captain said as she sat down on the soft fabric. Some of the goo even receded. Lily observed this.
"Hmm. It seems like the more comfort she has, the fewer ooze forms...", she observed, but suddenly her eyes glimmered. "LE GASP! I have just the thing! Lupa! Come on, let's go get the pillows from the storage room!", and she ran off with her fluffy friend. Four sat down on the carpet and sighed.
"How 'bout you tell us what's going on here?", Three said sternly to her captain. She got startled and tensed up, resulting in more goo forming.
"Or not!", Three quickly said. The captain sighed.
"No, no. You should know...", she said, taking a deep breath. She explained how after they finished off the evil telephone, Tar-Tar, ( you know, about 4 years ago?) she had these reactions. She also explained how she usually got passed it, and how this reaction was different, and harder to resist. Four nodded in understatement.
" Gee, that's a lot you've been going through in the past 4 YEARS.", Four exclaimed. Captain Three shied away sheepishly.
"But hey! I'm not one to judge!", she said, rubbing the back of her head. Suddenly a cry of excitement pierced the air.
" HAHA! I found the pillows! And Lupa decided to stay back by the storage room to chat with my two friends.", Lily exclaimed while she carried a few pillows. She set them down and smiled.
"I'm sure my friends would love to meet you all!", she said, sitting down on the bed next to Four.
" Who are your friends?", Four asked.
"Oh, they are amazing! I meet one of them about a month ago, and the second one I just meet yesterday! Funny enough, they both knew each other! So they connected well.", Lily replied.
"Uh, Lily? Why do you have a spatula in your storage room?", somebody in the distance exclaimed. Three recognized the voice. Ilyzia stepped out of a room on the side of the basement.
"Ilyzia?! Is that you?", Three yelped. Lily looked confused.
"Spatula? OH NO. Ily! That's NOT a spatula!", she shouted and ran over to her.
"That, my dear friend, is a liquefier! Trust me, it's dangerous!", Lily explained.
"Oh dear, I see...also, who called my name?", Ilyzia asked. Four smiled.
"Over here! It's the guys who were on official business looking for Eight!", she exclaimed. Ilyzia's face lit up.
"Four? And I'm assuming Three and the Captain?", she asked stepping forward with the guidance of Lily.
" What are you doing here? I thought you were at the entrance!", Three questioned, tilting her head.
"Oh, well, some of the octarians decided to go outside of the walls, and I didn't hear them. They were about to attack, but Lily here was doing some field work and found me in trouble. She shouted out where the octarians were and saved me! Incredible right?", Ilyzia explained, smiling. But a sudden realization washed over her, and the smile switched to a frown.
"Oh...wait. Oh dear, Lily, is she still with Lupa?", she frantically asked. Lily turned around and looked.
"Yeeeea? Why? Oh! OH OH OH OOOH.", she replied and nodded vigorously. Four stared for a second trying to figure out what was going on, while Ilyzia ran over and into the room she came out of.
"Wha...what?", she managed to say.
"Oh, nothing! It's nothing! Just...nothing!", Lily replied nervously. Three frowned at her and turned her attention to Captain. She was peacefully resting her head on a pillow, almost all the ooze was gone, surprisingly, and had her eyes closed. But she opened them suddenly and sat up.
"Wait, who's with Lupa?", she asked. She got her answer quickly.
"WHAT?! What do you mean Three's here?! I thought she was in Splatsville last I checked!", someone yelled. Captian's eyes went wide. She immediately stood up and ran to the storage room.
" Wait! We can explain!", Lily exclaimed following her.
" Oh, I know you're gonna explain.", she replied, turning to Lily, then back to the room.
"Oh dear.", Lily said, biting her lip.
Ilyzia and another octoling froze mid-conversation. Captain Three's eyes went wide, as well as the octoling's.
"Three...", the octoling said, her voice soft and quiet.
" Eight?"
